The qu`ran encourages peace, but in English, slay means: 1 archaic or literary kill in a violent way. 2 N. Amer. murder. Maybe the qu`ran should learn to understand English, then we could all understand it.

There are many translations of the passage that you quote depending on which version and dialect you choose. All you have done is taken a word which you think the original text translates to and used it as a base for your argument. Try taking the original text in various dialects then translate it to English. Mistranslation is a common occurarnce in most Languages as proved by, say film titles translated from English to Chinese. If you agree this is so then you should be willing to accept that translating the Koran to English is a difficult job and unless you, Lush, are an expert in this feild then please don't tell others that you are and admit you could be wrong once in a while. You will be respected far more. You admit you are not an expert on the subject, neither am I but I have read many posts on here from people that have more knowledge than myself. I am man enough to bow to their superior knowledge. But you did not respond to my main points being that if you can get the young Muslims and moderates to follow the peaceful passages they will become our allies and not our enemies. All your posts are saying to me are 'I am not interested in making peaceful dialogue with the British Muslims so I will ignore the parts of the Koran that promotes peace and quote what I think all Muslims adhere to however wrong my translated quotes may be, this will antagonise the British Muslims and turn the rest of Britain against them. Then I can say I am right and everyone else is wrong.' Anyone besides Lush disagree with me?

What i dont understand, is that all English speaking people have to find out what it means themselves, when this "alien" faith enters their country. Im suggesting/asking ken, that for the sake of English speaking people, that the qu`ran changes the word slay to combat, then we`ll all know what they mean. Its like that bank advert, a certain word or phrase in English is meant something bad in brazil i think it was. now for the sake of not upsetting other people in THEIR land/life/language, we change it to suit their version. Islam is "alien" to English culture and language, it should be changed to suit it ken. I admitted i was wrong ken, i understand the qu`rans version of slay means combat, ive explained that. ken, your version of what im trying to say, is wrong.
