There's a lot of people getting way ahead of themselves

We are all getting carried away. This time last year we were second in the table on course for auto promotion. Look what happened in Feb, March and April! I am still taking one game at a time because facts are in January we have achieved the root of naff all in relation to achieving promotion.

I will get excited in May if we still are in the top two.

I absolutely agree with this. There's a difference between getting excited at the prospect of promotion (I'm excited) and almost thinking its nailed-on.

Its not nailed-on and I think Alan Young was wrong to say what he did. There's still a lot of football to be played. QPR and Burnley look like they are up for the fight and there are plenty of sides (including Forest ) who are in good form and could push hard for the auto spots.

This isn't to say that we'll flop like we did last season (and make no excuses, we could of and maybe should of gone up last season). I dont think history will repeat itself like that. Its just to say I'm 'quietly confident' and am still taking it a game at a time.

We have won 18 of 26 = 69%  Drew 3 = 12%  and lost 5 = 19%

If we have a dip in form and only win 50% of our games 10 = 30 points, draw 25% = 5 games = 5 points and lose 25% 5 again that is 35 points = 92 total

I think given that we have yet to Play everyone in the current top 13 bar Direby and Leeds, That our destiny is firmly in our hands. I think after the QPR game if we win we will be guaranteed automatic promotion.

Yes I know I am getting ahead of myself.  I offer two reasons as to my optimism.  The teams scrapping at the bottom will need to be more attacking and on the break this season we have been devastating. Most of the teams in the top half play football and we have competed well against this.

We had played 28 and were on 50 points Cardiff had played 28 and were on 60 we then got 18 points from 18 games. We would only need to improve on that form slightly as + 20 points=77 so 3 wins and a couple of draws improvement should be enough.

As an eternal pessimist, I've watched LCFC for too many years to be otherwise but football is as much about emotions as it is about what happens on the pitch. People find release from everyday pressures and you can't really expect people to not be excited and overly optimistic if that is their nature. It's hardly going to impact on the team.

You could see today that despite the pressure and the substandard performance that their was still a very gritty and determined performance by the players.

If people want to take the risk of looking dumb in hindsight then that is their choice.

In hindsight, I'm rarely anything else!

It happens, when we went top under Mowbray around christmas after beating Shef Wed loads of our fans were being extremely delusional, we then went onto the worst of form of most teams in the football league, so don't count your blessings  :P
