There's a lot of people getting way ahead of themselves

I've just listened to Radio Leicester post match and I was shocked to hear Alan Young state that and I quote "We wont get beaten for the rest of the season".

Now we are in a splendid run of form and fortune that even allows us to pinch all 3 points from a match like today.

But I cant help feeling there is a growing number getting a little ahead of themselves.

Despite our run we could still only 4 points clear come this evening, and with 20 games still left to play this season if the players adopt the attitude that we are up or have the right to go up then we are for want of a better word..... ****ed.

I know Nigel is the most level headed of guys and he will certainly do his best to keep everyone grounded, but I would remind everyone at our position not so far off this time last season and what happened.

Yes there is cause to be positive but it has to be measured with a level of reality and commitment to continue the job in the same vein and not get carried away.

Just imagine what this forum would look like if we lost a few..... PANIC!

Lets just keep our expectations in perspective and our support for the team in focus to ensure we carry on in this same fine form.

Thanks for that useful insight from the inner sanctum of your mind Mack.

And I thank you for you inane sarcasm.

We're going up. Deal with it.

I agree with you entirely.

I think Alan Young is just trying to say things to get people to call in, but there are a lot on here who act like we have things sewn up.

Last week's performance was absolutely magnificent, but games like today show why we can't get ahead of ourselves. Sure, it was a fantastic win - the mark of Champions and the sort of win that Cardiff routinely dug out last season, but we played very poorly today and will lose more often than not playing like that.

It was uncharacteristically poor today, but we still ground out the win. A great result but there's a long way to go.

As an eternal pessimist, I've watched LCFC for too many years to be otherwise but football is as much about emotions as it is about what happens on the pitch. People find release from everyday pressures and you can't really expect people to not be excited and overly optimistic if that is their nature. It's hardly going to impact on the team.

You could see today that despite the pressure and the substandard performance that their was still a very gritty and determined performance by the players.

If people want to take the risk of looking dumb in hindsight then that is their choice.

I know that the thoughts of the fans can easily pass onto the team and management, but I highly doubt it.

Let's enjoy ourselves and the position we're in, knowing full well that there's 20 games left, which means that it could still go wrong.

It's looking VERY good right now, but we're not there yet. Which, I'm sure, is exactly what NP and the players are thinking!

Of course people are going to get ahead of themselves, we're top of the league and enjoying it.

Personally agree with you. Alan Young saying we won't lose again, I just don't agree with. We will, because that's football... I'm personally treating this position as I would any other position. It's January 18th today, we've got a long way to go. Yes I'm loving being top of the league, yes I'm loving the way we are playing, but I'm taking it one game at a time without overreacting as Nigel will be. If we're in this glorious position in two or three months time then I'll reassess.

People are getting excited because we are doing well, so what? If you can't get over the top excited at times like this then why bother at all? Yes it can still go horribly wrong but what's the point focussing on that.

Wrong. Give Leeds some credit, they worked very hard and stuck to a game plan that nullified both of our wingers. We were up against a decent team with some experienced players. We haven't played often like that this season because teams we have come up against haven't worked that hard. We had a below par day, hardly poor.

I agree with what you're saying.  That was a ludicrous thing to say by Alan Young, he should no better.  Football has a funny way of biting you on the backside and I do hope it doesn't happen to us.  I remember some of our fans questioning Cardiff's bottle last last season, I hope we have the same bottle as them!!  I admire Stringer and Young's passion for our football club but they do get carried away. They should be the ones to put a bit of perspective on it and be slightly more impartial instead of coming out with things like this!!

Young has just removed his tongue from his cheek.

Does anyone still take any serious notice of the sayings of Young & Stringer?

dead right mate. I'm wondering if Youngy spent too long at Vardy's party.

Its in effect a 4 point gap in my mind til FT at 5pm

There's getting excited and there's coming out with stupid comments like 'We won't get beaten again all season'.

Yeah of course. But what he says as no real impact, just a throwaway comment.

Every season we've had with Pearson in charge we've had a little bad run towards the end of the season.

In League One it looked like Peterborough might catch us at one point, the year we got into the play-offs we had a blip around April I think and then last season we all know what happened.

We'll have a bad spell. The question is of how quick we can put an end to it and how long this good spell can continue.

Why worry about what a pundit says? Enjoy watching City play well. Makes a change from previous years. They may have a couple of hiccups before the season ends but they are on the right course. AY is doeing his job of supporting the team an getting a reaction to his comments. What he said is no different to what a Manure radio pundit says when they were 7 points clear. Take it with a pinch of salt don't worry and enjoy the moment.

Like DavieG as aneternal pessimist we shouldn't think this is over...re last season....BUT if we do fcuk this up then we may as well give up

Mack and davieG are spot on though. We're Leicester City ffs. We are our own worst enemy. We're more than capable of screwing it up.

I don't think we will and I think we could we the title comfortably, so of course I'm excited about this season but that doesn't mean that I need to become cocky and over-confident. The worst/best thing about football fans is watching them big up their team when they're on top and then watching them crash and burn.

By all means, be confident about how the season is going but try and stay grounded until we near the end of the season.

Hopefully we'll all be able to celebrate together  :scarf:
