STUHILL Posted 16 August 2005 Posted 16 August 2005 Ok Tharican, a good point i feel, but WHO would you have played instead of tiatto on the left, Wilcox would have been totally knackered from the other two matches because of his age and with hughes still out who could maybe do an out of position job down the left, i'm not sure who you expected Levein to play there? I do feel some of your posts are good and you obviously have a good knowledge of football BUT you have to be realistic sometimes! We have a very thin squad because of wage cuts etc and i think Levein has done a fantastic job in bringing in players for the tiny budget we had. You say you detest negative football but how can Leicester be expected to play positively and with confidence when it has such negativity from some fans. The way i see it is that CL has built his team this summer and we all need to get behind them and show are support, not consistently question their abilities, there is a time for that and that is not only 3 games in!!!

I see no reason why he should be knackered with all Wednesday to Saturday lunchtime to recover. The attack had scored FOUR goals against a side who looked every bit as good as Ipswich. Why change it unless it was to play Elvis for the injured Momo? Please don't mistake my criticism for negativity. Let me say out loud I REALLY RATE MUCH OF WHAT LEVEIN IS DOING and it won't all come together at once, I know that. Indeed, I'd go as far as to give him 8/10 so far as a boss. The two marks lost would be because he hasn't signed enough marksmen and because when push comes to shove he errs on the side of caution (two defensive midfielders against Ipswich and the unnecessary but defence-disturbing substitution against Sheffield). Make no mistake I do get behind the team, wholeheartedly, unreservedly, vociferously on match days and that includes the players I wouldn't necessarily have selected. But, if I want to argue in favour of an attacking approach instead of what I consider is a defensive approach (because you get three points for winning and more bums on seats) I can't see that's anything more than being positive. We all take flak if someone perceives we're doing things wrong or that we have made a mistake. Levein will have a thick skin but I'll bet he'll be critical of himself about losing five points this season. I certainly would have been because neither Sheffield nor Ipswich were a better side than we were. Being criticised is an inevitable part of his job - and the lifeblood of this forum.
lush Posted 19 August 2005 Posted 19 August 2005 Get some more fire power. I'm moderately happy with the outfield defence and midfield except that none of em score goals. 156469 How would our serious firepower cope, if the defence is playing on the edge of the penalty area, and the midfield just infront of them like last season? The answer, they`d do about as good as connolly etc last season, because the support would be rubbish. craig has made the weakest part of the team stronger, thats what you do, then you make the nexst weakest part of the team stronger and so on.
Ultra Posted 19 August 2005 Posted 19 August 2005 Every team in this league has lost points. Many are still struggling to accommodate new signings. We're one of them. In this league, any points dropped at home are to be regretted, but at this stage of the season, we shouldn't be beating ourselves up too much about only drawing with Ipswich. At least it's a point more than we got from them in the promotion season! Lack of firepower may indeed prove a weakness, but this is the squad CL has and as long as we carry on creating chances (which we weren't doing for much of last season) we should do OK. And why ANY fan should prefer Wilcox to Tiatto in a FOXES shirt is a mystery. Danny shows passion and commitment and is an excellent leader. Wilcox isn't. Simple as.
Hazza Posted 19 August 2005 Posted 19 August 2005 Promotion favourites Norwich have only scored 3 goals, all 3 of which were scored by their forwards. I seriously wouldn't worry about it now, maybe in 3 or 4 games' time if it's only our forwards scoring then it would be slightly worrying, but i couldn't care less who gets the goals, as long as they're flowing.

My wife might show passion and commitment but it doesn't mean she's any good at football.

Shum Posted 20 August 2005 Posted 20 August 2005 Many, I know, will be satisfied with a point against Ipswich but £35 a ticket to watch 0-0 in the rain at home isn't very inspiring to me. 156179 I can't see any tickets on the ticket info page at £35 firstly. I see a £34 ticket in the West Stand however. Also if you become a member you would have saved an additional £5 on that ticket price to, so £29 for an adult ticket in the premium area of the ground isn't that bad surely? Also I don't think it was one of those boring 0-0 games, their goalkeepers made some fine saves and overall I actually enjoyed the game and the atmosphere in my new found area of the ground. In 3 games, one of our strikers has 4 goals and the other a goal - to be fair I don't think that's a bad return.
Ultra Posted 20 August 2005 Posted 20 August 2005 When Wilcox played we beat Stoke 4-2 in an exciting game. When Tiatto played we drew 0-0 in a bore draw. 159336 Deeply flawed logic. The idea that Jason Wilcox is or should be some kind of talisman is really beneath contempt. And to suggest that the 0-0 scoreline meant that last week's game was a bore is immature, perhaps even sad!

Simple as. 159165 Well I prefer Wilcox to Tiatto, especially when we are playing at home, I never thought it was mysterious just a point of view or maybe now you mention it it's as mysterious as anyone preferring the one footed, pirouetting, guileless, headless chicken that is Tiatto As always it's true to say people see and like different things but of course that's still a mystery you.

And to suggest that the 0-0 scoreline meant that last week's game was a bore is immature, perhaps even sad! 159356 You really are one for putting words into people's threads. To explain it simply, Wilcox gives width and he can cross, he can shoot a bit and he can create a bit. You can read elsewhere that I don't regard him as a great player but I believe Leicester become limited with two ball-winner midfield players and the games I mentioned seemed to highlight that. I imagine from what I have read from you so far you have spent your life making interpretations that bear no relation to the facts put in front of you. If you thought the 0-0 against Ipswich was what you want to watch then great then that's simply another thing we disagree on.
Foxes_Wizard_Striker Posted 20 August 2005 Posted 20 August 2005 OH MY GOD!!! I just started coming on here before season to get transfer gossip and it was great, got loads of info and rumours BUT i've continued visiting now the season has started and it's awful, WHY OH WHY do some of you guys complain so bloody much!! WILL YOU EVER BE HAPPY??! You seem to forget that we have had hardly any money to spend on bringing new players in and that this is our managers first full season in charge of Leicester and in England. I really don't understand what you guys are looking for? Of course i want to see us win every game possible and score loadsa goals and concede none BUT for gods sake we live in a real world and it doesn't always happen! I went to inter and stoke game and watched sheff game on sky and we are looking a good team considering it's 3 games in and most our players are new, yes we have weaknesses like all teams do but we have many strengths too and i'm really hoping we can better what we did last season and maybe even push for a playoff spot! PLEASE stop complaining so much guys at least until we are ten games in and if we are below mid table. I like this forum but some of the posts sound like monday night moan ins!! Sorry for the 'crazyman' speech but i would go insane if i didn't get that off my chest. Lets look at the positives a bit more because afterall NEGATIVITY doesn't do anybody any good! Apart from that COME ON LEICESTER!! 156414 Quality!
lush Posted 20 August 2005 Posted 20 August 2005 Every team in this league has lost points .At least it's a point more than we got from them in the promotion season! 159165 Sorry to be pedantic, but you cant lose points, only gain them. No, we drew with ipswich at home 2-2. A good way to look at us now, compared with last season (only 3 games): last season sheff u (a) 0-2 stohe (h) 0-0 ipswich (h) 2-2 this season sheff u 1-4 stoke 4-2 ipswich 0-0 So weve GAINED TWO points on those fixtures, WAY HEY weve started the craig levein revolution!! Avoiding defeat today and it will be 2 or 4 pts better. At worst after today, we`ll be a point better.

Come on dude, it was one of the best 0-0`s a purist could wish to see. I`d appreciate your wife showing passion
