mat1881orient Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Congratulations from a Leyton Orient fan for not only re-reaching the promised land but being the first club in the football league to achieve promotion this season - very well done! This is just a quick message to pass on my congratulations to all Foxes fans but to ask for your help. My mob, Leyton Orient (whilst having a decent season) are still facing the threat of extinction long term with the decision by the government and London Mayor Boris Johnson to GIFT the Olympic Stadium to West Ham United. Over £135m of public TAXPAYERS money is being spent on the re-conversion of the stadium with WHU renting it back at a mere £2m per annum. Long term this could signal real trouble for the O's. Our first ever league game was actually against Leicester Fosse, as well as our last home game of the 1914/1915 season (this being the one before we became the first club in the country to have players and staff sign up en masse for the war effort in 1915) so we have some "nice" history with you guys. Always found Leicester fans to be passionate, not above themselves and a hard working community club, just like Leyton Orient. We have 4,000 members who have joined our facebook campaign but we need so many more to support us. Here is hoping you can find a few seconds amongst your wild celebrations over this weekend and next few weeks to join our campaign and spread the word on our behalf. Once again, congratulations - your success is richly deserved! Mat Roper - STAND UP FOR THE ORIENT CAMPAIGN MANAGER https://www.facebook.com/groups/520970711278097/
FoxTrott Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Cheers, amazing season. Will definitely get involved in this, often watched the O's as they were the cheapest option of seeing a game when I was younger and have developed an affiliation with them as such. Real shame to hear that the club is under threat. Best of luck for the rest of season.
BoyJones Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Thanks and will support the campaign, my dad was born and lived off Homerton High Street before the war and up to early 1950's. I got taken down to see the "O" s in the 60's every time we went back to visit his family. We moved to Leicester in 1961 because the old man got a new job, otherwise I would probably be an Orient fan (or maybe West Ham like my cousins!) Looks like it could be play-offs for you, good luck.
