Record signings

Many seem obsessed with paying big fees for players. I looked for an increasing list of our record transfers and couldn't find one. Once we even broke the British transfer record for Alan Clarke  believe you could argue we quickly moved him on for a profit so it wasn't a total faiure even though his time here was pobably best remembered for being twatted by Graham Cross. Over my time record spend has incrased but by and large i struggle  to see which big money buys have been successful sure back in the day we even made a big thing about paying an extra cuope of grand for Mark Blake, If Draper was once are record signing he lived upto the price tag but the likes of Mills,Akinbiyi,Beckford,Eadie,Wise,Jones shows paying big for players has never really worked for us so i am more than happy for the manager to go about his business his way for anyone that worried about  £6/7/8 million pound signings tell yourselves we paid those sort of fees for Vardy,Drinkwater,Mahrez if it makes you feel better :pearson:

Last close season we signed very few if any players.  I remember that people were thinking we would be mid table.  The truth we all know.  So I agree with the post on this score.  However, the jump in class to the premiership will be telling.  The team that got us up has already lost Dyer.  At times I felt we needed strength at centre half, left back and up front.  If we needed that then we will need it now.  Having said that I really do not want to break up this splendid team and it will therefore be necessary to get in better than we have already got.  I agree that does not mean we have to spend big just look at Mahrez.  It has been a strength of the Pearson management team to keep coming up with these type of players and I believe that is the way forward until we establish ourselves in the Premiership and start to attract players of the type of class we need to move forward.  Up front will definitely be worth taking a chance to get real class for next season.

The problem is that top players will only start being on our radar when we establish ourselves.  Bye-the-way there really is no point on dwelling on what we have done in the past in this respect - what a player Matty Elliott was hey ?

Not a dig not a whinge mind you Peter Taylor is on Sky sports at the moment passing judgement on England!!! Elliot was a top signing who had done the rounds for a good while before MON spotted something in him. Some already seem to be fearing the worst for next season but i am really happy with the signings so far and Nigel and his team seem to plan and plan with regards to signings so happy to read the gossip and see where we go.

Why should we break any transfer record? People are obsessed to a point where it's annoying. Pearson has always stated there should be nothing in the fee. That's why we never disclose any transfer fee under Pearson. He feels it only adds unnecessary pressure on the players. If fees are ever disclosed, it's by an agent, the player or the selling club, never Leicester.

I wouldn't be surprised if we do make a big money signing, assuming Nigel and the team think the player will perform and fit in well with what we already have. Again though, we will never know the full price!

If we do get relegated, we don't want a heavy and expensive player affecting our ability to improve other areas of the squad as needed the season after.
