Deathside Posted 20 August 2005 Posted 20 August 2005 In a thread elsewhere I mentioned going to The Pukkelpop Festival for one night - So here's my review of the bands I saw: The Hives - Entertaining as always but didn't play enough of their older (better) songs Coheed & Cambria - Only got there for the end of their set and saw 1 minute of guitar wanking and some big (afro) hair - Very disappointing The Bravery - Watched 2 songs and was very bored and so wondered off to the bar Franz Ferdinand - I was hanging out with some friendly people from Norway at a bar near the main stage when FF were playing - So they were just background music - And I think that sums up their performance perfectly Blood Brothers - Heard them from a distance as I was wondering around - Screamed vocals caught my attention so I went to the stage to see who it was - When I got there I found / heard nothing to make me stay - And so I wondered off again Amplifier - Never heard of them before but went to check 'em out as they were high on the bill on the Skate Stage - They were quite interesting but not quite my thing - So I stayed for 4 or 5 songs and wondered back to the bar by the main stage to see if my new chums were still there Basement Jaxx - OK so I'd turned into my alter ego (DrunkPunk) by now but I have to say they were bloody brillient - They included a mad cover (White Stripes I think - memory hazy ) And as an added bonus Lisa from The Bellrays was part of their lineup No Use For A Name - Excellent - Fantastic way to end the night Some disappointments though Missing Social Distortion - They played main stage in the afternoon Not being able to go on Friday - Lineup included Alkaline Trio & Bad Religion - Then again I'll see them both at Leeds next weekend
Mark Posted 20 August 2005 Posted 20 August 2005 Some good bands there. Co&Ca and The Blood Brothers are awesome. No Use For a Name are indeed fantastic.. lucky you catching them live, i hope they finished with the Redemption Song

Who ate all the pies? Posted 24 August 2005 Posted 24 August 2005 I did the entire Pukkelpop festival it was pretty damn fine Highlights for me were !!! Goldfrapp - absoutlely amaxzing Polyphonic spree - honestly amazing live GLC - HRT made me laugh my ass off Hives - made me laugh Nick Cave and the Bad seeds The Infadels Disapointments Prodigy - just weren't at the races Franz Ferdinand - I just don't understand the hype Magic Numbers - ditto Nine Black Alps - they believe in their own hype way too much! The Datsuns - honestly shockingly bad! Julliette & the Licks - they suck! I only got back yesterday as I sepent two nights in Brussels, nice city but expensive!
Deathside Posted 24 August 2005 Author Posted 24 August 2005 I did the entire Pukkelpop festival 162349 And ya didn't even say hello Did the campsite get flooded? - It was pÃÂssing it down on Friday when I began my journey home (I was told that's a bit of a history of the site being flooded)
Who ate all the pies? Posted 24 August 2005 Posted 24 August 2005 If I'd have seen ya I would have said hi! No it got a bit soggy by the end but the good weather on Thuraday dried everything up so when it rained Friday it didn't get too bad. To be fair I could bairly see early doors on the Thursday as I was so hungover, I got there on Wednesday and started drinking early then the hot weather kicked in an I felt shocking!

Deathside Posted 24 August 2005 Author Posted 24 August 2005 Brussels?...Expensive?... Hardly, when compared with the other capitals... 162513 How many capitals does Belgium have?
Who ate all the pies? Posted 24 August 2005 Posted 24 August 2005 when I say expensive I mean English prices! And I've been to other capitals (in the world not in Belgium) and it still seems a bit more expensive than I would have thought. Not London prices I'll admit but not that far off an average English City and England is meant to be expensive!
