Ash Posted 23 August 2004 Posted 23 August 2004 Today ,i was thinking about our team and some of our players .And I was thinking about Tricky Trevor & what he actually does ? Yes he did score a good goal for us V Derby ! But apart from that what has he ever done for us ? ..When he comes off the bench i admit yes i do shout OH TREVOR TREVOR etc etc but why has he all of a sudden changed into the Fans Favourite ? Benjamin is a shocking footballer to be honest and we are actually looking forward to seeing him off the bench and play,and alot of the time it amazies me how he has actually stayed at this club for so long !?!... Im starting to come round to the idea of what Petrescu(The Poster) Is saying . Why play sh!t Trevor Benjamin ? Why not give Tommy Wright a chance? He may not be a proven goal scorer for us or Brentford! but he hasnt been given a real chance ! I dont think he actually deserves (Just yet) a chance in the first team but should be on the bench atleast!He's better than Benji overall ,so why doesnt he get a chance? C'MON MA use your brain abit son

Whats going on there? Why not have two different types of striker than two of the same shower of shite? Serious changes are needed if Micky wants to make the fans happy (or just me ) It really does show how desperate we are singing and singing for Trevor to come on

More that he is a likeable person and he tries hard...hes more of a tragic hero if you like (not in the shakespearian sense) I agree with you though. I would prefer someone else to get a crack at it. Wright isn't that great but he did score a cracker against the dons so there is something there!

davieG Posted 24 August 2004 Posted 24 August 2004 Let's make this very clear Benjamin is NOT a Premier or Championship quality footballer, his natural level would appear to be League 1 were he had his best season with Cambridge. He was an expensive buy and and continues to be an excessive drain on our financial resources. This is NOT his fault - blame Taylor. The only reason he is still with us is due to his 3 year contract which he doesn't want to give up, who can blame him and nobody else wants to take on, who can blame them. Skill wise he is the Donkey version of Bambi Lewis. Now I like donkeys they are lovely and I also like Benjamin. In fact I like quite a few people but I wouldn't want them playing for LCFC. With his salary I don't feel sorry for him even if he gets booed, although I do feel sorry for his family if they are watching. It's difficult and unfair to be too critical of him. It's due to his commitment, compared to some of the other players that some fans are pleased to call for him to play not his skill level. We have sufficient players at this club with the requisite skill level to not need his services unfortunately they either can't or wont put in the commitment the fans expect - hence MA picking Benji and the crowd calling for him. Now whether there are better or more deserving reserves/juniors I'm not in a position to say we have to leave that to MAs and his advisors This season is his last big payday he will never earn anything like his current salary again, unless he gets a media job or becomes a business guru. If he's still with us next season, which I doubt very, very much it will be on a quarter of his current salary.
kerryh Posted 24 August 2004 Posted 24 August 2004 I like Benjamin - he puts everything into his play - yes he falls over, but he wants to plays and has a bit of passion. I think he's a good sub, he comes on when the rest of the team are knackered and injects a bit of life onto the pitch. Against Millwall he was awarded three freekicks in the short time he was on, he scored against Derby. Let's give the bloke a chance (as a sub anyway!)
