It's good you can be flippant and c'est la vie about these things but I've got several friends and acquaintances out in the Middle East and you'll probably be more subdued when you've actually been there and seen the reality.

Photography, journalism, soldiering in a war zone is bungee-jumping with attitude and you have to remember what we seen on our screens is edited.

Great job for the adrenalin but getting shot at by people who've had lots of practice is not something to go searching for.

You should shoot first, keep your head down or stay out of range, if you take my tip, cos I've seen enough parents whose sons neglected that simple advice.

It doesn't make for easy conversation afterwards. Good luck though and safe returns if you get in.
