Sparky Posted 25 August 2005 Posted 25 August 2005 Danny Tiatto and Jason Wilcox are confident Leicester City can fulfil expectations and reach The Premiership this season. The Foxes have made a steady start to the new Championship campaign, with hopes high that the club can win promotion. Tiatto and Wilcox are among the more experienced members of the squad and they will be looked upon to lead Leicester forward. Australian midfielder Tiatto believes the next two games - against promoted duo Luton Town and Hull City - could play a key role in determining the shape of the club's season. "I think we've been consistent since the start of the season," Tiatto told Sky Sports News. "The first game (a 4-1 defeat at Sheffield United) was a bit of a setback but everyone's working hard. "We've got a really young squad. We're very ambitious and want to do well. "I think these next two games are going to be very important to us - the Saturday/Monday games. If we could get six points that would put us in good stead. "The teams who got promoted always look very strong. They have already caused upsets. I think Luton beat Palace and Norwich (sic - it was Southampton) so they are not going to be an easy side to beat but we're quite confident we have got a good enough side to do well this weekend." Former England international Wilcox echoed Tiatto's thoughts and is hoping the team can rise to the challenge of reclaiming a place in The Premiership. Wilcox said: "We're a Premiership club really, playing in The Championship. We have got high expectations of ourselves and don't want to let ourselves down like we did last year. "We really want to give the fans something to shout about. We have made a half-decent start but we are looking to push on now. "We need to go on a good run where we are picking up results when we are not playing particularly well, rather than drawing when we are playing well. "If we can turn that round we should be there or thereabouts really." SKY SPORTS.COM
shen Posted 25 August 2005 Posted 25 August 2005 Sounds a lot like what the players said last season... nothing wrong with being ambitious and hopeful, but to me it sounds more complacent than anything else...
Anish Posted 25 August 2005 Posted 25 August 2005 They can't exactly say we're destined for mid-table mediocrity can they?
Parsons Posted 25 August 2005 Posted 25 August 2005 i know this is going off the subject but i think wilcox is a far better player than Tiatto and should be in the first 11 instead
shen Posted 25 August 2005 Posted 25 August 2005 They can't exactly say we're destined for mid-table mediocrity can they? 163486[/snapback] Well they could just keep their focus and keep with the "one game at a time"-cliché rather than predicting promotion...
AyewJoking Posted 25 August 2005 Posted 25 August 2005 Indeed, they dont look confident on the pitch. Tiatto is aggressive but thats down to being mental rather than confidence.
