Blizzard Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 How many of you really expected city to travel away to Soton, who are flying high in second place and get a result? I certainly didn't, and losing today is no great shock to me. The WBA result was a shock to me, but I stand by my prediction that City will be caught up in a relegation battle all season. Pearson hasn't stuck with the winning, dynamic formula he played against Man U.Therein lies the problem. The team has lost the confidence it had at the start, and I think in January we need two new signings, a new striker and a left back player. There is a big difference between Championship and Premier League football. All we can do is try and get behind our team.
Larry_LCFC Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 Its not about losing, its about how we lost. We didn't even make a good case for ourselves. It was just a gutless performance.

MHC Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 How any football fan can see having not a single shot on target in 90 minutes of football as acceptable is beyond me, it's outrageous. No matter who or where we are playing, I don't care if we are playing Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, I want to see ambition in the way we play regardless of opposition. I don't mind losing, as long as we die trying and I haven't seen that for quite some time now, it's like we turn up knowing we are going to lose so we try to grind out a 0-0. It's a ludicrous tactic to use when we are incapable of maintaining a clean sheet, and that is down to Pearson being naive and not believing in the team he was so adamant about giving a chance in this league. This run and apparent lack of confidence is entirely Pearson's fault.

But I don't think he has ever said anything different/he accepts it's his fault. I agree about desire and wanting to win. I also think, like others, we need to revert back to the formation and tactics that saw us take points from Everton, Arsenal and Manchester United.

He's got two games to save his neck for me, if we don't win them both I will be 100% behind the idea of sacking him, I'm about 60% at the minute. In the immortal words of Brick Top "you (Nigel Pearson) are on thin f#cking ice my pedigree chum, and I shall be under it when it breaks. Now, f#ck off and get us playing like your jobs on the line, because it is"

Blizzard Posted 9 November 2014 Author Posted 9 November 2014 Was it a gutless performance because they went out on to the pitch negatively looking for a draw? Or are they simply not good enough? From what I gather from his interviews Pearson doesnt seem to accept responsibility for the teams performance. Which is bizarre. How he doesnt start with Mahrez every game is beyond belief. If Pearson gets the sacked, which may well happen as I am sure the Chairman isn't currently impressed, who do you replace him with? Tony Pulis?
