my case for playing 3-5-2

right , as i look at todays formation of 4 centre half across the back , with neither full back offering any thing going forward would it not be wise for us to switch to 3-5-2 ?

for example

....................................logan

.................stearman , mccarthy , kisnorbo

maybury........williams............weso..................porter

...................................hume ..............................

.........................fryatt........o grady

now im not saying this should be the exact personel , im sure sheehan would fancy the left wing back role or others would have kenton in but , this formation would allow us to play o grady hume and fryatt who all bring something different to our attacking play . with weso holding it give williams the chance to create with a bit more finesse than johnson and it allows hume to support our front 2 which is something that is clearly lacking at this moment in time. i dont think this formation would make us weaker at the back far from it , the only thing id be concered with is could porter handle the defensive duties of the left wing back role .

now before people say yeah but kelly is a 4-4-2 man , this is just my opinion and id like peoples thoughts

you are exactly right about the system we dont have the personel to execute a proper 4-4-2, so why handy cap ourselves by constantly trying to

Absolutely spot on but RK will never do it, it's not in the FA manual. Sadly RK is as Peter Taylor was a coach,

they should carry the balls and cones out and let a manager make a sensible radical decision to suit the players. Round pegs for round holes, not 4 centre halves, has anyone seen a proper full back the size and pace of Johansson?

I agree with you there.

I dont think Kelly has the Balls to make radical changes but I would love to see him do so

Johansson is shit as a full back he brings shit all to that position and Low is just as poor on the Wing, How people can even class him as a 'winger' is beyond me

Agreed, we need to find a way of getting 4 or 5 attacking players in the opposition's half regularly, thus creating chances and scoring goals, before we knacker the young kid Fryatt out. Do l feel sorry for our 2 strikers, it's like watching England under the Swede isolation or what?

Agreed again.

IN January he has to sign an attacking midfielder and someone who can play on the right wing

No need, it'll be too late. Changes have to be made now. Those can be Gareth Williams and Max Gradel/Ian Hume.

Left back should be the priority unless Kenton is moved over and Stearman comes in. These changes would bring a whole new attacking approach to the team.

It's worth a try because every week lately is like watching my worse nightmare unfold.

You are absolotely right. Providing we don't hoof the ball over the five players in midfield! We aren't exactly short of centre halfs so finding three wouldn't be a problem ... or we could go 4 - 3 - 1 - 2

Logan

Stearman McCarthy Kisnorbo Johansson

Johnson Weslowski Hughes

(or porter)

Hulme

Fryatt O'Grady

We have to integrate all areas of the team and, right now, Stearman/Kenton are best equipped to link the defence and attack.

Midfield is harder because Low's our supposed right winger but he's lacking both defensively and in attack.

Gradel is an out-and-out attacker and still inexperienced which is not ideal at the moment with the fans on edge and ready to blast anyone who makes a mistake.

Academy lad Andy King looks an excellent attacking, even goalscoring midfielder - and he's close to six feet tall. I watched him today in the kids' 8-0 defeat of Cardiff and he showed a lot of different skills. I'd certainly prefer him to Hughes. But having Hammond and Porter out wide might also work...cos we scored three when Hammond played and three more against Hereford!

So you might have:

Logan;

Stearman, McCarthy, McAuley, Kenton;

Hammond, King/Hume/Wesolowski, Porter;

O'Grady, Fryatt.

That team has passing, speed, strength and a bit more height.

And it's what I'd play right no win our situation because it adapts almost fluidly to 4-3-3, 3-4-3 and even 3-3-4 which is exactly what we need.
