MC Prussian Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 Coventry to unveil Dowie as boss Coventry City will unveil Iain Dowie as their new manager early next week, BBC Sport understands. Dowie will take over from caretaker boss Adrian Heath, who was installed in the role following Mickey Adams' dismissal on 17 January. Former Crystal Palace and Oldham boss Dowie has been out of football since leaving Charlton last November. Dowie turned down the recent vacancy at Hull and was strongly tipped to follow new owner Milan Mandaric to Leicester. The former Northern Ireland international striker's first game in charge could be against one of the clubs he played for, Southampton, on Tuesday. Dowie spent a short and controversial spell at Charlton. He was in charge at The Valley for 12 Premiership games and the Addicks were bottom of the table when he parted company wit the club. Dowie caused a storm when he left Crystal Palace after two-and-a-half years, ostensibly to move back to the north-west with his family, but then pitched up at neighbours Charlton. Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan served Dowie with a writ for fraudulent representation. After a short spell in caretaker charge at QPR in 1998, Dowie's managerial career began in earnest at Oldham in 2002. During his 18 months in charge at Boundary Park he established enough of a reputation for Palace to come calling. Dowie further enhanced his reputation as an innovative young coach by getting Palace promoted to the Premiership through the play-offs but he was unable to keep the Eagles in the top flight. Knighton Matt Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 There is a God. Ugly people belong in Coventry.
Brainy Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 Will this distract Coventry this afternoon? He certainly won't be at the game considering he's watching Arsenal v Blackburn with the BBC
Stevosevic Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 will hopefully mean they will stop playing for Adrian Heath
Brainy Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 Adrian Heath belongs in Coventry too. Urrrrgly

Population-1 Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 If you get chance take a listen to the post-match interview with Adrian Heath on the BBC Coventry site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/coventry/content/arti...7_feature.shtml If ever there was a contrast of emotions this is it. The whole outlook of LCFC appears to have taken a positive shift whilst the resignation resonates with Heath. I for one feel sorry for the guy as it appears he has been kept totally in the dark and was effectively managing the club today knowing full well he would be out of the door come Monday/Tuesday. Whatever the financial wranglings connected to the Mandaric deal I think we should be grateful that we finally have some optimism ahead. It is rather reflective of 21st Century football that this should result from the investment of a lone tycoon, but whether he has been financially canny or otherwise we should back him to the hilt. This will likely be his last UK football venture and I am sure he will want to go out with a bang. Football is a fickle business and the future can switch from bleak to rosy (and back again) within the space of days. Listening to Adrian Heath however I do spare a thought for the guy as he has obviously been treated despicably. Jay Tabb's interview only adds further salt to the wounds.
lookwhaticando Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 See my signature for my thoughts on this move. It certainly made my week. :D
lcfc_jme Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 You can shove your Ian Dowie up your arse!! unlucky Cov.

Flynny Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 I didn't want Dowie, but there's always the chance he'll do well with them. If that happens I might cry.
