Ollie's old boys could impact on transfer bids

by Bill Anderson

Ian Holloway has revealed that his transfer plans might be hit by one of his former clubs, QPR, who are making waves.

For Leicester City's manager believes the Londoners could become the €˜Chelsea of the Championship' with the extra financial muscle they have acquired under their new owners.

They have pledged to make January transfer funds available, and the Loftus Road club have been given a further boost after Amit Bhatia, the son-in- law of Indian steel magnate, Lakshmi Mittal, bought a 20 per cent stake in the club.

Holloway, who was manager at QPR for five years, said he had inquired about players - with QPR already having done the same for usually more money.

He said: “If you are not careful, QPR will saturate the market by offering for everybody.

“If they get another multi-billionaire in there, they might be the next Chelsea.â€

City do have Milan Mandaric's monetary muscle, but Holloway is not going to splash cash without due thought and consideration, hence the three trialists going through their paces at the Belvoir Drive training ground this week.

All three are from abroad, and Holloway thinks this should act as a signal to the members of the present set-up.

He said: “I have brought in two or three players to have a look at, and they have got to realise it is not just this country but the whole world which I am looking at and normally I get a few of those right.

“The trialists have lifted the spirits of the whole group. Whether I will take any of them is down to me and down to any others I am looking at but I have to say they have all done very well.

“It is just about quality. I need to bring players here who want to be here, who can keep the ball and pass it and who are not down in the dumps.â€

As Holloway has also emphasised, clearing the decks has to be done at the same time and he said: “I am looking forward to the challenge. I am very excited about it and I want the City fans to know that I have tried to be fair.

“I am making decisions, there is going to be some clarity, some will be going home for Christmas to have a talk with their agents, because we all want to move forward.

“Every one of those players deserves to play for somebody. Is it our level, is it not, we will have to wait and see.

“I will try and help them if they are decent. If they have a bad attitude I will tell managers not to touch them with a barge-pole.

“I can't be more frank than that and people know what I am about.

“I want to help all of these lads but more importantly I want to help this club get to where it wants to be.â€

I hear Bill Gates is looking at Leicester keenly!! :o

I'd rather have Steve Jobs, less money but more charisma and coolness and the apple logo would look cool on our shirts (all the important things lol).

Plus, with a Microsoft man at the top, our club would fall apart for no apparent reasons at random intervals.

Our scoreboard would be haunted by the blue screen of death on a daily basis.

You'd have to replace the footballs each week as they wouldn't be properly compatible with the footballers' boots.

God help the physio and his magic sponge...

:giggle:I know, I know, you've heard it all before....

Maybe QPR could be the new Monaco - no fans but shedloads of cash to spend.

They'll still find it tough to compete with other London clubs though..

have to have the right manager tho, could take years...

and it's not exactly gonna be like playing at old trafford or the emirates, is it... i mean shepherds****ingbush...

And the QPR signing spree continues:

Hogan Ephraim (West Ham)

Matthew Connolly (Arsenal)

Gavin Mahon (Watford)

Kieran Lee (Manchester United)

Akos Buzsaky (Plymouth)
