Club raided in corruption probe The club said it was co-operating with police Police investigating corruption within professional football have raided a Premier League club. Officers swooped at Birmingham City FC earlier in an "ongoing investigation into football corruption", City of London Police said. A spokeswoman said it was not linked to the Lord Stevens inquiry into transfers and illegal payments to agents. The club said the raid related to a police inquiry into "an unconnected third party or third parties". It said no-one connected with the club had been questioned or arrested. Lord Stevens published his report last year in which he highlighted concerns about 17 transfer deals involving Premier League clubs. His inquiry concentrated mainly on illicit payments to agents.

In any story like this I love quotes like: "The club said they were co-operating fully with police."

As if they would come out and say: "The club have decided not to co-operate with Police."

I'd like to know how an "unconnected third party or third parties" can be unconnected to BCFC if they hold documentation appertaining to said "unconnected third party or third parties".

I'd have thought that giving them money makes them very connected.
