Ric Flair Posted 21 June 2005 Posted 21 June 2005 Leicester have had a £50,000 bid turned down for 20 year old Scott Robertson http://skysports.planetfootball.com/Article.asp?id=286560

I've never heard of him, I doubt Levein will be willing to part any more money for him as it's not as if we need another midfielder unless Williams is off?! Nice to see he's looking at younger players again!

Louise Posted 21 June 2005 Posted 21 June 2005 This doesn't really make much sense to me. We don't need another midfielder (well, we need defenders and strikers more) unless Williams is leaving, but if Williams is leaving then why are we only offering 50k? Unless its just a starting bid of course.

My point was, if we're getting him as a replacement for Williams he must be good enough to be worth more than 50k (if thats the only bid we're going to put in), if we're not getting him as a replacement for Williams then surely we don't need him as we've got enough midfield players as it is.

But we also know that you get alot more for your money in Scotland as teams up there are desperate for cash. Hughes and Kisnorbo will be first choice next season so perhaps Levein see's Williams replacement (if he goes, which I hope he doesn't) as a player who can develop over time and not be first choice straight away. It does seem odd one, i'd be very surprised if we signed him. I know £50-100,000 isn't that much but considering we need a a striker and 2 centre halves atleast, i'm bewildered as to this news.
Simon Posted 21 June 2005 Posted 21 June 2005 Perhaps (contrary to what I thought previously) Levein intends to use Kisnorbo at centre back?
willy37 Posted 21 June 2005 Posted 21 June 2005 williams isnt leaving. and maybe this robertson is a wide player, which i believe we could still use, especially a left sided midfielder
BartonFox Posted 21 June 2005 Posted 21 June 2005 Aberdeen and Willem II from Holland are apparently interested in him as well. Just because he is at Dundee and from Scotland there seems to be some prejudical views about the lad already. <_<
Scow Posted 21 June 2005 Posted 21 June 2005 Perhaps (contrary to what I thought previously) Levein intends to use Kisnorbo at centre back? 125527[/snapback] I suppose if Levein doesn't get the centreback he's looking for (i.e. Kenton) then Kisnorbo could well slot in there. I've not seen Kisnorbo play, so I can't judge whether he'd make a good centreback or not, but he is fairly quick by all accounts, which fits in with Levein's wish to adopt a high defensive line to compress the play.
davieG Posted 21 June 2005 Posted 21 June 2005 It seems perfectly logical to me, on the one hand he's a replacement for Dawson, who I'm sure CL didn't want to leave, on the other hand CL has publically stated that he wants a pool of 'youngish' (19-22) preferably coming through the academy pushing for places. This bid says to me the academy can't fulfil that at the present time. It would costs us more than £50 grand to develop someone from 16 to 20 and would obviously take 4 years, we can't wait that long especially when it's potentially there on a plate.

filbertway Posted 21 June 2005 Posted 21 June 2005 It looks as if kisnorbo will play more of a defensive role rather than midfield if we are looking for more midfielders.
Gené and Tonic Posted 22 June 2005 Posted 22 June 2005 If he's only played a handful of games, and still caught the eye of a few clubs, he's gotta be good surely.
