  1. Christ just looking at that 1/4 line up in 2000. I think at that point we would've been the highest team still in it!
  2. Thanks @kushiro as ever. I think the 2000 defeat is an underrated disappointment. We had a great team that year beset by injuries, and if we'd got past Chelsea we would've potentially had games vs Gillingham, Newcastle and Villa to win the cup. I think that and 97 were our best chances, much better than 2001 with Taylor. ****ing Chelsea...
  3. Anybody else had a really bad cough and catarrh recently? Seems to be something going round London for sure. More unpleasant than ones I've had in recent years.
  4. I remember at the time on some forums (eg foxfanxine) people were saying we needed to keep perspective and stop whinging, Taylor had done a good job overall
  5. are you shrinking?
  6. Their manager is Italian...
  7. FB reminded me this morning. What a night. Was watching in a classroom in Italy after the students had gone home.
  8. We went on a bit of a run after that game iirc. Boro later in the season was worse imo.
  9. I find the constant claims and counter claims of racism very tiresome but didn't Abbott once complain about European immigrants taking jobs in London, and that they didn't understand the English language or institutions? Pretty awful woman.
  10. Think about Gillespie's handball and Walker nearly saving the penalty once a day
  11. Not strictly LCFC but while living in Sofia I was pretty drunk in some ex patty type pub and walking back to my seat decided to sing "shit on the Villa" as I walked past a table of Villa supporters. In my drunken state I thought they'd find it hilarious but apparently not. Pretty big lads too. Thankfully my very beautiful and charming girlfriend got me out of trouble diffused the situation by telling them how much she knew about Birmingham as the cradle of the industrial revolution, how the UK ambassador was a huge Villa fan, and how much she loved Stilian Petrov. I sat sheepishly behind her. Not my proudest moment, and she still brings it up from time to time.
  12. You can't do it because you're not a lizard
  13. So much rubbish on the streets in London now. Yesterday saw a guy across the road from me pick up a delivery and just chuck the bag on the floor and eat his food. Then you get all the shit left outside houses. People leaving kids toys or even books ffs for people to take, which get wet and disintegrate all over the pavement. If I were a new PM the first thing I'd do would be a massive cleaning blitz across the country. Would be pretty easy and cheap to do and would be so noticable. Easy popularity boost.
  14. Tell him it's all gone wrong for the conservatives in the polls since he stopped posting them!
  15. Clean streets in general
  16. This is a good point, and I think touches on one of the reasons why cup the PL and/or CL now dominate a lot of fans thinking. I am sure more people now follow an English team than say 15-20 years ago, certainly abroad but also in England itself. At the same time I reckon a smaller percentage actually go to games, and play out a lot of their fandom online or occasionally socialising with friends. So the competitions that get the most publicity at home and abroad - Premier League, Champions League - are the ones these fans are most invested in. And the cup competitions that, in my opinion offer a better fan experience, are seen as an annoyance.
  17. Some of our fans talk about the cup like it's the LDV fans trophy and not a competition won 26/ the last 30 times by the 'big six'.
  18. You could level all those accusations against the United Kingdom to be fair. Maybe not priests but other people in positions of power.
  19. I think regularly about that chav in goal for Aston Villa saying he's a believer, "mate", when asked about their title chances.
  20. Can kind of understand why some people would want some key players rested for this game. But the 'couldn't care less' comments - very odd.
  21. Has my post been deleted? Was it the mention of an illegitimate child or England's return to the Catholic fold that did it?
  22. If Harry turned into James Hewitt he'd at least be a bit more interesting than he is now.
  23. My Kate's Not Dead photo has a lot of people asking questions already answered by the photo
