cant see them doing it until next tues morning when the prevailing winds go generally easterly. however, i wouldn't think they'll risk it as too much risk of a northerly component bringing any radiation cloud across crimea.  thereafter the window probably shuts until the end of week 2 at least

The west should be supplying Ukraine with millions of massive fans that blows everything towards Russia.

I think the problem with the internet hasn't been so much misleading information but conflict. A lot of voters appear to have been motivated to vote in a particular way out of spite towards a particular group that exists mainly on social media or in their head. See the rants about loony lefties from a radio journalist that no longer posts on here.

In terms of "con artists" as you call them, I think the impact of social media has been overstated. Imo in this country most of the damage was done by major news organisations in the years following the financial crash, and the constant articles about Eastern European benefit scroungers or Labour's magic money tree. Not sure there's been a more damaging period to the UK in living memory to be honest.

And it all started in such an innocent way, it was supposed to be a freely accessable information tool with no boundries, like a lot of great ideas. The lyrics of dire straits sum it up

A long time ago came a man on a track
Walking thirty miles with a sack on his back
And he put down his load where he thought it was the best
He made a home in the wilderness
He built a cabin and a winter store
And he ploughed up the ground by the cold lake shore
And the other travellers came walking down the track
And they never went further, no, they never went back
Then came the churches, then came the schools
Then came the lawyers, then came the rules
Then came the trains and the trucks with their loads
And the dirty old track was the Telegraph Road
Then came the mines, then came the ore
Then there was the hard times, then there was a war
Telegraph sang a song about the world outside
Telegraph Road got so deep and so wide
    Like a rolling river

Wind and solar power are booming in China and may help limit global carbon emissions far faster than expected, according to a new study.  Solar panel installations alone are growing at a pace that would increase global capacity by 85% by 2025.  The report says the country's green energy targets for 2030 look set to be exceeded five years ahead of schedule.

But coal plants are also increasing, partly as backup for all the new wind and solar farms, the authors say.

The Chinese are rising to the challenge. Not perhaps as much as could be done, but they are. Other parties must follow suit.

Bet it's not an independant report. Chinese manufacturing is driven by government subsidies and investment schemes that allow business to produce millions of items that just end up on scrapheaps, but allow the government to show they're doing their bit for the world.

From what I read last week, death by imploding deep sea submersible sounds like a brilliant way to go, but probably out of his price range

It would, but the build up would be a bit of a cliff hanger.

and it’s all part of Putin’s plan, I’m sure. If missiles were launched, I’m sure they would come from Belarus..

I’m sure the plan is to keep mosowvites away from the realities of the war  for as long as possible. Like mushrooms, kept in the dark and fed on bullshit.

I’m  fairly sure there’s a few more  missiles pointing towards Belarus now.. even if it’s just for defense reasons..

Lukashenko has basically made Belarus a legitimate target by agreeing to nuclear weapons and hosting Wagner, which I suspect is what’s really going on, if not to attack Ukraine but to provide another front that requires resources to be diverted.

  7. Hmm. Russia deploy nuclear weapons to Belarus, nutjob threatens Moscow, nutjob exiled to Belarus, what happens when nutjob gets his hands on nuclear weapons?

How local does it neeed to be?? Can I get some from the co op in Birstall?

It’s supposed to be honey from local bees that pollinate in your area, that’s kind of how it works. My mate, who used to have bad hay fever, has a couple of rounds of toast with honey on for breakfast and he doesn’t get hayfever any more. I think it’s more of an all round year thing though to build up an immunity.

The point was, here is an article researched and written by an organisation with a proven track record on journalistic standards and it explains how and why this debate has come out and has actual sources and quotes to back it up.

If you are going to say that that article is wrong and that schools are allowing children to identify as cats you need to have something to back it up that has even greater degree of journalistic merit and a higher level of source evidence.

You can't refute a researched article with, "There's a kid at my daughter's school that identifies as a cat!" Whilst there is anecdotal evidence of kids identifying as cats and there are possibly some kids out there that genuinely believe they are cats. There is no evidence that schools are indulging this, using their cat names and providing cat food and litter trays.

    And saucers of milk

They will get that when they’re older. Or have a mental breakdown. Why have a quiet word with them at this age, there’s a place in life for innocence

    They ain’t 8 year olds, they’re young adults , 15-16 year olds.

Unless Russia is gonna hit the button and launch nukes from Belarus meaning that Belarus is gonna get nuked.

We know that trees make noise when they fall and we are there to witness it, and that is proof enough that they also do when we don't. But then that's veering a little into the epistemological which always feels like a circle-jerk for its own sake to me (though sometimes a necessary one). Directly witnessing something empirically and it being repeated and corroborated in a credible environment makes it a fact rather than an opinion. And yeah, if someone cannot prove something either with their own evidence or by citing reliable sources, then it is only opinion, not fact.

I can see why someone would think asking someone else to prove the assertion about school life as ridiculous, but there's a reason for that - that assertion has the potential to fuel prejudice against an already marginalised group (which I might think, is the very reason the Mail and other parties published it in the first place) and so it is harmful. Therefore making sure that it is either proven or simply written off as opinion and/or misinformation might go some way to reducing that level of harm. Leaving it alone just makes people think that it might indeed be fact, and lead them to conclusions that then cause further harm.

Agreed, two areas where the worst of human action is often displayed may well require it. A throwback solution for the throwback propensity of man to want to bash that other guys head in with a rock and/or steal his shit.

Don’t you think that someone pretending to be a cat needs a quiet word in the ear though? Something like, will you stop acting like a twat.

Thing is,Wagner still want Ukraine back as Russia. So I’m not sure what this does for Ukraine.

Nah, Wagner troops want their criminal records ripped up, as was promised. Imagine being a prisoner and promised your freedom if you signed up to the military for 6 months, and then that 6 months ended and you get told to sign a contract to be in the Russian army, you’re gonna be a bit pissed off when your mates are getting blown to pieces around you, you’re going to moan to your boss and what’s he going to do, being an ex convict. I think that’s what this is all about and Moscow has been in denial to the Russian people, feeding them bullshit and hoping the war comes to an end.
