Just don't get how a punishment can be decided and dished out based on something that might happen. How did they decide to put us under a transfer ban when selling players and manager comp meant no breach of rules.
-
Get a buy back in there or a % of sale. That's what all the cool kids are doing.

I've been seeing this argument used for as long as I can remember but in various guises.
Qualifying for Europe is the priority, not player development.
Winning a Cup is the priority, not player development.
I used to hear it in my work when in charge of apprentices, we can't use them they have no experience. Aye but they have other attributes like positivity, energy, unsullied views of the business, willingness to learn, learnt skills, natural ability and ambition.
There always seems to be a reason for not blooding young people.
I didn't say we wouldn't do it. I said it wouldn't be the priority. If they are good enough then great.
-
I think the FFP rules will push us into using youth a lot more, with the idea of selling.
This year has to have a balance through. Staying up is the priority, not player development.

All goes well and he sells for more than double that by the time he's 25.

I honestly thought you'd misspelt the title of this thread and it was supposed to say "salemakers" and it was another player leaving type thread

Finances say we can't get both
How do you know?
Over the last two summers our wage bill must have halved. We've had a lot of deadwood leave and money come in from transfers.

So we're after both O'riley
and Soule?
O'Riley feels like a KDH replacement.
Soule feels like a gap we have in the squad for an number 10

Mate, your next level shit.
That's a lot of one night mate.

I was surprised by him last season. I thought he really took his opportunities well. His injury knocked him back a bit.
Not sure he's ever going to be quite PL standard, but he works hard, has a bit of talent and knows where the goal is.
Potentially a squad player next season. But more likely a loan to a championship club.

it’s bloody ridiculous that we nearly blew promotion because we couldn’t afford €2m 6 months ago
We could afford it. It was FFP and the fact is was a stupid deal that stopped us.

I presume these figures are in euros?
-
Given he's not signed - should we jump to conclusions that he doesn't want to stay and move on? Do we really want someone that drags there feet so much?
-
Looking forward to seeing what he can do.
However, I'm not convinced he's going to be a great signing. Hope I'm wrong.

They looked good in the championship time will tell how they pan out.
That's what we needed.
But also the ability for them to step up. I'm excited to see how they do

are people forgetting last year's transfers? Some of the best we've had for years.
A mix of experience and up and comings.

Broja for £25 mil? Bloke is a midtable championship striker at best. The only value a premier league team should be taking him on for is free just to sell him further down the pyramid. He's of no use in top flight football.
Really agree with this - the guy has done nothing but seems to have a fantastic agent that gets him moves and publicity

He's gone then either way, Chelsea or Brighton, doesn't matter. Having to sell arguably our best player (who doesn't even want to leave) due to financial mismanagement.
And the people who got us in this mess are still in post, laughable
Apart from Rodgers of course
