They would be more open yeah, and that's probably an argument in favour of our style, but the argument against it would be that premier league teams would also be far better defensively, which is something we struggle to break down, they likely would not be parking the bus like many teams do in this league, but they would not need to. An open premier league team is still infinitely more dangerous than a park the bus championship team. Yeah it's early days and the turnaround has been great, but that doesn't really excuse issues, it just gives a little bit of breathing room to improve.

Again, you're just straw-manning my position with hyperbole. I don't understand how it's "negativity" to state something that we can see, most first halves this season have been poor. The table is great, but unlike seemingly much of this forum, it does not paper over the cracks for me. I don't expect 4-0 wins every week.
-
And I agree, we have the quality to see the 90 minutes through, but should we get promotion and continue making very poor defensive mistakes and wasting good attacking chances, we will be punished by top tier teams. It works in the final 10-15 minutes yes, but for the first 75 we are a mistake away from conceding, premier league teams won't often waste the chances that championship clubs do.
-
It's the vast majority of first halves this season, please don't strawman my position.
-
Fair enough, yes we deserved to go down, but with the squad we had we massively underperformed and realistically would still be there if we had no held on to Rodgers for so long. But given the table we should still be preparing the club for potential promotion both off and on the field. We have some very glaring issues imo.
-
Yeah I think that often gives a bit of a false sense of comfortability, as soon as we lose possession and teams run at us we often flounder.
-
Because that is where we should be. This squad should be putting games to bed with quality, week in week out we go into the final 10-15 mins where teams are a goal away from taking points. Every single football club in the top 8 is already putting plans in place for if they potentially get promoted, we all expect to go up, so why would we not be looking 6 months into the future? The earlier we can prepare for the premier league the higher chance we have of staying up. Edit: I get that we can only take games one at a time, but my point is that we are building a blueprint under Enzo with a very specific style of play, so as much as it's 1 game at a time, we should also be looking at the style in the context of where we might be next season, I'm just not letting the table or results paper over very obvious cracks.
-
I think we look comfortable because Boro are happy to let us pass ourselves to sleep, the moment Boro get the ball we fall apart right across the pitch. Boro are just letting us pass it to death.
-
All entitled to our opinions, but if you think that's good i'm not sure what to say. If we get promoted and play how we've played in most games (in the first half) this season we will be multiple goals down before we even come into the game. Really, really poor imo.
-
I'd be tempted to throw Cannon on now, if not throw Fatawu up there, i've got very little faith left in Vardy or Daka to turn this around.
-
Difficult place to voice concerns this season given the league table lol, some big wake up calls needed.
-
I can't think of a first half this season where we've looked up for it tbh, every week the first 45 + 10 of 2nd half we stink the place out.
-
Quite balanced and fair imo
-
Imo it’s tempo. We take 3 months to build up an attack and give the opposition time to organise. It’s really boring to see us hit teams on the counter only to stop just before we make the killer pass and instead pass it back around the defence for 40 passes. I get that we try to tire them out, but we are so lethargic passing it around the opposition can basically walk into position. We need to stretch them with a bit more pace and we might open up clear chances.
-
Justin needs to stop complaining and get on with the game. Another poor first half so far from us.
-
Love vards but it’s over, he’s on target for 12 goals this season but I doubt he will even get that, he’s not looked interested at times. 70k a week is a monumental wage for someone who will likely struggle for double figures. I get that teams often sit in a low block and that doesn’t suit him or us, but with that said, we could all see that coming, so it just doesn’t make sense to have him taking up such a huge wage. Vardy, Daka and Kel must be taking home close to 140k a week and they have 9 goals. Id rather we agreed a mutual termination than see him go out with a whimper like this. I know he wanted to stay and help us, but on his wages is he helping or hindering compared to if we had just bought another striker.
-
I'll be surprised if he's here at the end of Jan at this rate.

Very poor first half as has been the script this season, multiple mistakes in defence, midfield anonymous, no fight in us. Leeds completely dominated us and exposed our flaws in this system, very frustrated at the lack of adaption today, Enzo made some subs that were needed but then continued to adopt the same slow pointless passing which led to even more mistakes in the second half. Daniel Farke has a win record over 50% from something like 150 championship games which is a fantastic record. He set Leeds up perfectly and sad to say but he was tactically superior today. It's one loss in 10 so I'm not too fussed about the result as we are still going in the right direction and still hold a healthy lead if Ipswich drop points from their games in hand. The league table does not lie, but i'm still unconvinced by the system and whether we can make it work should we get promoted, we need monumental improvements in the squad to make this style of play work against premier league clubs and i'm not sure we will have the funding to make that happen. Long way to go, lot's of time to improve as a unit, Enzo still has massive credit in the bank. Tonight was a bit of a write off and we look forward to the next one. Best team won.
-
Yep, I'm loving the Enzo revolution but I am VERY concerned about this style of play long term. The idea is fine, I buy into the blueprint, but the tempo is lethargic and there is something really amiss in the final third and defence, we are very prone to making mistakes in defence and we often play ourselves into submission in attack. We've got the quality to punish teams at this level, but looking to the future and the likelihood we will be in the top flight next season, quite concerned about how the premier league teams will take advantage of us if we don't massively strengthen and improve as a unit over the next 30 odd games. The results have been amazing, but the majority of those results have come after 75 minutes of pretty poor football relative to our quality.
-
Yep, Farke has them set up perfectly to expose our weaknesses. I noticed earlier in the match on one of the stat pop ups, Farke has won something like 78 of his 150 championship games as a manager, 50% win rate is phenomenal really.
-
Yeah it's important we don't take too much away from Leeds tonight, we've been awful but they have absolutely dominated us.
-
Jamie Vardy is on what 70k a week? if the 50% relegation clause is true, club legend, love him but is he really earning that at this level? he's on target for 12 goals if he's lucky, doubtful of that too with the way we play. But with that expense every week can we afford another signing? or are we just hoping Cannon comes good? Daka, Vardy and Iheanacho are earning what 140k a week between them? 9 goals for a team absolutely dominating the ball in most games.
-
Got a link?
-
Give him a chance, he's only just come off, he needs atleast 15 mins to get changed and start preparing it
-
We just have individual quality to grind out results, but for 75% of most games we've been lethargic, play like this in the top flight and we are in for a long season, we really need to up the tempo across the 90, it's no surprise the players have lapses in judgment, I'm asleep watching.
