My gut instinct is that results wise he will do fine in League One, and AFAIK he typically signs players with potential, I just cannot stand the sight of us going in a giant horse shoe around the pitch for 5 minutes, with 50 passes going from GK to the CBs, over the the Left Back, who puts it to the Left Winger, who turns back and passes it to the CM, who passes it to the CB, who pass it to the Right back, who passes it to the Right Winger, who turns and passes it to the CB's, all at a snails pace whilst the opposition (who we are supposed to be tiring out) are literally walking around the pitch, and we end up having to face a deep block that we struggle to penetrate all game before finally a bit of class nicks us the points late on. I watch this sport to be entertained. Winning is nice, but if the game was rubbish to watch for 90 minutes, but we nicked a winner at the end, that win doesn't make it entertaining for me.

I feel sick.

I still think if we genuinely want a foundational blueprint built, we should bring in Ralph Hasenhuttl, give him 3-4 years to get back to the prem, and try at the earliest moment to bring in Ralf Rangnick to oversee the club if he decides to step down from Austria.

100% would crawl over broken glass for Wagner over Martin.
-
Yeah they definitely had a rough patch near the end, he took them from 17 points off top when he arrived to a single point from the top when that form hit though, so he had a sustained upturn in form, not really sure what happened towards the end.
-
Yep, it's so obvious. He's someone who plays aggressive, attacking football, makes players work for the badge, has done a great job on a budget, and he's someone that could genuinely rally the club back together. Announce Russell Martin.

At this point I might be one of them, simply cannot be bothered anymore, I haven't been to games regularly for a long time, can't see it changing any time soon. I'm a 2 hour one way trip. It's an interesting tactical approach, I get the strategy, but I watch this sport to be entertained. I watch F1 because it entertains me, I don't watch Tennis because it doesn't. For far too long I've planned my weekends around watching a Football club that doesn't entertain me, not sure I can be bothered wasting my time on it much longer if we bring in RM. I've followed F1 since the 90s growing up as a "side sport" but over the last 5-6 years, it's taken a far bigger portion of my attention than it has in previous years. Happy for those that want to watch it, but I'm not tribal enough about the club to waste my weekends watching football I despise. Love this club to death, but I respect my time more. The club right now feels a little bit like that conspiracy theorist relative that you love because they are family but avoid them because of their nonsense.

If he wants to do coaching badges, the club need to contact him asap. We need standards.

I'd rather scattergun than the most likely alternative where we interview 3 or 4 before deciding we wanted Martin all along. Keep the scattergun going

Great Race, the regs feel a little bit manufactured at times with the way the energy deployment/battery works, but the racing this season has been fantastic at times, it's been a while since we've consistently had good quality racing right across the grid week in week out.

Bortoleto hurt Lewis there, hopefully Lewis can hang on, some great battles this race/season

Yep! fantastic move!

The rear wing on that Red Bull is like opening a dustbin lid, absolutely miles bigger than anyone else's. Hamilton's is like a letterbox in comparison. Will be a hard overtake here.

Jordan Ayew - NEVER PLAYING FOR LEICESTER AGAIN!!!

Just make sure he finds a new club BEFORE we bring Steve Cooper back please -
Largely agree, although I don't think anyone REALLY "wants" him, but is he worse than what we have? I'd love to be a in a situation where we can easily say "if it's between Ashley and Top/Rudkin, keep Top/Rudkin" but I think that line is very blurred these days.

Sadly I think it would be a huge upgrade. At the very least we would stop spending huge amounts on players on inflated contracts.

Most on here know what I think about the style, but often it was frustration at teams who attempted to play the style but pretty much always failed to replicate it, even though i'm not a huge fan of patient control, I often found City watchable and were one of the best teams at executing it, Pep is one of the greatest managers ever to grace the game. Few managers can say they fundamentally changed the way football was played in entire countries, in England, managers like Ferguson and Wenger had that honour, Pep Guardiola also shares that honour. The shift that Pep has moved the game in is absolutely phenomenal and the game will be much worse off without him in it. He said he wants to experience international management one day, he loves England, dare to dream? I've no doubt Pep would bring us a world cup. He's a man of principle, and a man of class, yes he's been at clubs brimming with money and talent, but how many times have clubs spent absolute fortunes on flops? His strike rate for buying players for big sums and getting the most out of them has been pretty exceptional, very few of his big signings flopped. He's more than proven himself as one of the greatest managers in history in Spain, Germany, and on the hardest stage of all, England. I can't see him returning to manage another prem club unless it's a return to City to be honest, he really took to the club and from his leaving video built a love for the city. I know it's often in Jest when people say that "even pep wouldn't have kept us up" in both the prem seasons and at times this season, nonsense. He is one of the greatest ever. -
When he is Sacked, would you take Tonda Eckert?
cityfanlee23 replied to Phube's topic in Leicester City Forum
He'd probably buy him AFTER he gets sacked. -
Yep, I actually think he will do well at City though, I said when he was here that he really needs an Elite team to make his system work well, for us at times it just felt rigid, I completely got the idea of why we would play the ball sideways and backwards to create pockets and to move the opposition around and tire them out, but we often did it so slowly that opposition midfielders were walking around the pitch taking up new positions. The endless horse shoe where it went from Mavididi on the left wing, backwards and across the back line before reaching Fatawu, who would then horse shoe it back, it just made the inevitable low block even harder to break down. One thing Maresca did spot though that we have dramatically failed to do since, is create constant space for the wingers. Both Mavididi and Fatawu thrived because Marescas system created both overlaps and underlaps for the wingers. Winks was also in his element controlling the tempo with short passes. You know me though, I'm a glutton for the Red Bull/Rangnick/Klopp style systems so I was always biased against Enzo/Pep, I just find it really tiresome, it's interesting to see the chess pieces being played, but often it just felt like control for the sake of control. Thought that we were far more entertaining towards the end of the season where we played far more directly. The stats don't like, we scored a lot of goals and conceded few, but for the majority of the game I just couldn't get into it.
-
The point being many people felt that line was too often blurred especially with the squad we had. Chelsea fans were also divided on the same issue.

Completely agree with this. Results are great and we all want to support a successful club, but the reason I watch football is to be entertained, the reason I don't watch cricket personally is because I don't find it entertaining, the reason others don't watch F1 is because they don't find it entertaining. Enzo was incredibly successful at getting results with us, and there is no doubt he inherited a mess and forced us to turn a corner, but the football just wasn't entertaining for the vast majority of the match, and I don't watch football to be excited for less than 10 minutes of the 95+. If we were for example fighting for survival, then sure, I'd take boring results over entertainment, but as a general philosophy, I want to see us going hell for leather to score, high press, high aggression, fast paced football. Enzo is the complete opposite of that.
-
Just because we were worse under other managers, doesn't make Enzo's style enjoyable for everyone. Yes, we scored a lot of goals and conceded relatively few, but you can achieve that with any style if the setup is right. For many of us, the style was boring to watch.
-
I don't think he really needs to "replace him" I suspect whatever happens Enzo will get a "get out of jail free" card if the rumoured punishments for Man City ring true regarding the charges.
