You're about right for the simplified way of starting up an aircraft. As for locking up at night, well they don't really need to. Its at an airport so security is high enough not to need to or they put it in a hangar, quite often a battery is just disconnected and possibly they'll put a special tape around part the door, which if broken means the aircraft has to be thoroughly searched.

I'm guessing he means for the tournament winner

Can't see Stevenage winning, they've got a poor winning record at home, whereas I think they could nick it at Bramall Lane to go through

My friend who put 300 quid on Real v Barca final (idiot) recouped 100 of that tonight with it being a Madrid v Bilbao final

Oh my mistake. I dont think they can, as girls can play Sunday League with lads upto u11s I think and are then not permitted so Id imagine Fifa has some sort of rule in place for it.

That womens super league is professional isnt it?

I cant understand why he thought it was dodgy. Theyve never had any real safety problems or complaints just customer service issues which is always the case with a budget airline. It would only be like flying bmibaby.

Lap of luxury on the A380, not had a major accident apart from the engine fire but there are many problems with them. Just thought Id say. The 777-300ER is an improved version of the 300 and was made safer and stronger. It was considered the safest ever until the mess at heathrow a few years ago. Theres been 1 fatality involving a 777 but that was a refueling error and the refueler suffered fatal burns. There really will be no problem but I know how you feel and nothing really helps. Presume by the aircraft, and the fact you're stopping in Dubai you're flying Emirates?

Planes will glide but the likelihood of all engines failing and not restarting at all is nearly impossible. Of course it depends on the pilot staying calm, but you rarely get a plane crash which is mechanical error is solely responsible, most of the time the aircraft should deal with it but the pilot panics. The amount of aircraft that have emergencies everyday is more than you think but the crew know how to deal with it and it rarely happens far from an airport. Look on the internet for the amount of squawk 7700 there are a day and rarely does anything come of them. You'll never have a crash in mid-air if ATC and Pilots do their job. Vertical separation at cruising altitude is 2000 feet and the Horizontal separation should this be infringed horizontal separation is around 9km Presumably as you're flying to Australia and stopping in Dubai its more than likely you're travelling on an A340 (dependant on your airline) which has an excellent afety record with no loss of life in its 20 year history. Now you might be travelling on something different I don't know but the A340 seems most likely. And you're most likely to crash in the first 3 minutes or last 7 of a flight. This is the best time as you're altitude and speed are less and the emergency services are close by.

Fair comment, I work/interested in the industry and know the ins and outs but I sometimes get worked up over flying. I even have flying lessons. It doesnt matter how many stats and facts you know it just sometimes doesnylt help

Can I ask, what exactly are you scared of? Is it the height, the security threat, the safety of the plane, the fact its unnatural? Just curious

I'm no expert on this but I'd guess it's a psychological thing as well. You're meant to charge in large numbers with bayonets making a fair amount of noise, this must shock opponents, move them on or when you get close obviously injure them. It's just a guess, and obviously if you've got no ammo it's pretty handy. I also read recently that they used bayonets in Iraq on occasion and in Afghan in 06 or sometime around then and it worked slightly. I read that one guy got a medal for his actions during a bayonet charge too.

No chance of it settling mate, meant to chuck it down all day and the ground has probably warmed up too much now for it to settle anyway!

Might aswell make Dyer captain for a game, he'll have been here the longest and always puts in a lot of effort. Maybe he doesn't talk enough on the pitch but don't really think it matters too much who is captain for 1 game.
