The sickness goes much deeper than the manager. There has been something wrong with English football for a long time now. It's the FA.

It's been an England thing since Rooney. Used to piss me off no end that Rooney spent so much time deep. And now Kane does it. They've scored more goals for England than anyone else, but never when it really counts.

His pass out to the Argentine defender - which then fell to Rice - before our goal, came from quite deep in midfield. So he was playing in midfield before we scored.

He spent most of that match in midfield. Indeed his one good moment was a pass out of defensive midfield.

I think he really is a problem for us. I know he scores goals for us (against average opposition usually), but for most of the game he's doing nothing. Messi was doing nothing most of that match, but when he was needed he really stepped up. Oh - and he's a shit captain.

I've been thinking about who next for England. And the best I could come up with was Brendan Rogers (as long as he was only appointed a year before a tournament). So maybe Rooney isn't such a bad shout. I suppose Pep is free. But he would never take it.
