God Preston are dire
-
Fair play, it's true any team struggle vs a low block but it seems particularly a problem for possession based teams like us and yet it hasn't seemed to stop the likes of Ipswich. Hope we adapt to it and become proficient at flying out the blocks and scoring early as you say. Tonight will be a really good barometer of how we can come with it as Preston are going to make a Pulis side look cavalier.
-
The games where we struggle are the ones where the other team come in a deep block and sit back, like will be the case tonight, and we don't seem to create much against it Yes we can run riot against the likes of Blackburn and Southampton who attack us but that's no good if we're going to be struggling every time a team comes looking for a point.

Leicester 0 - 1 Hull Leicester 1 - 0 Bristol Huddersfield 0 - 1 Leicester Hardly free flowing stuff is it
-
Really? Didn't know that. It's encouraging. We seem to struggle to break down teams at times so I am surprised mind
-
Birmingham City fans, enough said. They won 4-1 as well.
-
It's clear that Ipswich have the edge over us in creating chances they seem to be much more potent than us in attack but our defence is much better. I agree with the poster who said West Brom will be in the mix and fully expect Middlesbrough to climb rapidly. Think these clubs will all be in contention us, Ipswich, Leeds, Hull, Sunderland, West Brom, Middlesbrough, Millwall, Norwich.
-
Ipswich are excellent but they will fall away, they don't have the same quality of back up. Sam Morsey is key for them and last game he got suspended and they dropped points However I echo what @Fox92 said would love to see them back in the Premier League, I think they are a real class act as a club and fan base, proper football mad town.

This is going to be brutal I will be optimistic and say 2-0 to the good guys.

Quick Brennie boy an opportunity for some good PR
-
Good summary as to why Preston will fall away soon.

Our best player, in a good team, by an absolute country mile
-
Who do we have as the winners? I still fancy SA although if France knock them out Ireland look well poised. going to be bold and say Wales will squeeze past Argentina, then somehow upset Ireland to make the final to get absolutely pumped by SA.
-
Saying this as a Wales fan myself that's a pretty one eyed and unfair take. Scotland, and to an extent Italy, have been royally screwed over. Having the top 2 ranked countries in one group and 3 and 4 in another is heinous when you have our pool with 8th being the highest ranked team in it, then facing the other weak group in the QFs. England, Wales, Argentina, Fiji and Australia were given an absolute dream draw to do something in this world cup, put any of those teams in any of the other pools and they get eliminated without question.

Naaah far too dirty

The guy just amazes you in how much effort he puts in to PR manipulation, making excuses to try and mitigate his failures. A sad Indictment of the current state of affairs that it actually appears to work as well. A very easy man to dislike, indeed.
-
Yes that's true having a solid defence can get you places that's the thing they have going for them. Still don't think it will be enough, same as it wasn't last season.
-
Sorry but I am really not getting your love in for Preston! They are the definition of mediocre in this division and will fall away once their luck runs out. You can see that simply by watching their games. Got nothing about them to suggest they will be challenging long term. You can call us lucky but we have a style of play and quality of player which suggests we will improve, there's only one way for PNE and that's down. As for Ipswich, they may be a little closer to the playoffs just purely based on being a more rounded team but I fully expect them to fall away too.
-
Lucky is a thing though. On balance of play they could easily have lost a good number of those games, they are hardly blowing teams away. That's why Ipswich are much more of a concern as on the whole they have deserved their wins and clearly have a lot of goals in them, which Preston don't appear to.

League One & Two - 2023-2024 Season
Arriba Los Zorros replied to Wymsey's topic in General Football and Sport
Hope that Portsmouth stay down in league 1 forever and ever! -
I'd be more worried about Ipswich than Preston long term I think. Preston are just mid table fodder with a good defence on a good/lucky run. Ipswich actually have quality and a style of play that can take them far in the league. We'll comfortably finish above both IMO
-
Interesting take, I think at the KP we'll be looking at a minimum of 1 point every match, and at times well just steamroller teams. Away from home well struggle at times against the more physical and motivated sides. Let's see.
-
Haha embarrassing display from Millwall trying to live up to their reputation the bloke in grey hoodie is one evolutionary step from a chimpanzee let's be honest
-
I can see Sunderland and possibly Ipswich lasting the course but yeah! Better to have these at the top than Leeds and Saints and Middlesbrough !
