Do you mind me asking.... Where do you generally sit on immigration and politically?

There's not much talk of this on here ATM and I'm wondering whether any of our more right wing commentators see this as a positive, or are willing to say it could be.

BBC News - UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays - BBC News
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c231x8rj1zpo

    I don't mind at all.

Immigration - very much to the right.

Generally - a mish mash. Economically left leaning, socially right leaning. But I take a position on each topic on each merits so am a bit all over the place in terms of the left-right scale.

It's very telling that Mahmoud is taking some pragmatic and practical steps, something that tough talking Tories (like Patel or Braverman) etc al never did.

  2. Not yet.

In my memory we've had a lot of worse seasons than this (Mid 2000s).

My Dad always goes on about how bad the (I think) late 80s/early 90s were before we started getting play offs around mid 90s.

Theres further to fall for sure.

  3. Quote from the BBC:

The state spends £212bn per year on illness-related inactivity, or nearly 70% of income tax, through lost output, increased welfare payments and additional burdens on the NHS.

Raising income tax is unacceptable in my mind, especially given the seemingly endlessly frozen tax thresholds.

Never looked any good. I criticised him after the Wrexham game but the thread was taken down. I lost it with him after that game. A better manager would have us higher, 1 win in 10 is a disgrace.

Yep, that was my thread that got shut.

Obviously the problems at the club are varied and run much deeper than Marti but it doesn't change the fact that he's an awful, awful manager.

  5. The only way asylum seekers are presented in the media are negatively.

    - Violent crime reports

    - General antisocial behaviour reports

    - Labelled 'fighting age men'

    - Depicted as ungrateful, lazy, entitled etc.

    - How it costs however many £B a year to the taxpayer

As a result I'd say my view of asylum seekers, particularly those entering via the channel on dinghies, is negative.

Are there any sources that are reporting on asylum seekers in a positive light? Anything telling of them doing anything useful, community minded etc?
