  1. People talking about stupidity - It may ultimately not have been statistically significant, but those people voting for a third party candidate or even Trump to punish the Democrats for Palestinian suffering are in for a rude awakening.
  2. He’s right. I think in both the US and the UK, it’s easier for a woman to lead a party to electoral success on the right rather than the left, simply because there are some socially conservative people (not just men) who don’t want to vote for a liberal woman.
  3. If he’s genuinely not interested in trying to change the law to get a third term, I think this is highly likely. He could easily lose interest quickly.
  4. I assume we can’t have Musk ‘28 because he was born abroad?
  5. Bottled it.
  6. Confirmed that they did, yes. Probably. Although apparently that would require a change to the constitution and would be easily blocked.
  7. They’re trying to be controversial and dramatic on C4. I’m flicking between that and BBC1.
  8. Channel 4 is having a giraffe. Michael Cohen now sitting next to Stormy Daniels.
  9. The idea of exit polls is strange in America given how there are people still voting elsewhere in the country.
  10. Probably a feeling that Kamala Harris is a mediocre candidate coupled with a degree of disbelief that Trump can be one given the end of his last presidency and the fact that he’s barely coherent.
  11. Short term, Loss. Longer term, Win.
  12. That’s a very interesting word for it. And I don’t mean that in an insulting way because practically that is what’s happening these days. The truth isn’t standing on its own in people’s eyes, rather it has to be sold as a message, commoditised even.
  13. I’d watch that.
  14. What has she said? *Never mind; I’ve just Googled it. Horrible comments and she’s not right.
  15. Personally I reckon she’s more moderate than Jenrick. He’s been saying some batsh*t stuff. Although granted not as moderate as Cleverley, who is the one who would’ve been on the voting sheet if the Conservative MPs hadn’t cluster****ed.
  16. I’m not going to have a go at you for religion, but I am going to ask you how Kamala being incompetent is your number one reason for voting Trump, who is himself proven to be incompetent in the highest office. Last time he just said and did stuff based on how he felt in a given minute and everyone else had to run around trying to clean up after him. Then, if they complained, he sacked them and tried to destroy their reputation. I know you could claim this as “whataboutery” (a stupid concept at the best of times), but I don’t understand how you can have your #1 voting priority as competence yet then come down on Trump’s side.
  17. Yeah, I’ve seen people stating with absolute certainty that Harris will win and also people stating with absolute certainty that Trump will win. Not necessarily supporters of each either. I’m anticipating a Trump win but it wouldn’t be that much of a surprise to me if Harris came out victorious.
  18. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c748kmvwyv9o At last, some real news.
  19. Personally I would welcome a dead heat, and the rarely-seen Rock-Paper-Scissors standoff.
  20. That is probably the part of the budget that concerns me the most in terms of big picture.
  21. There are political differences between the two garbage comments though. The Republican one: - Came from a warm-up act - Insulted people of a specific origin - Is likely to have directly upset people who might have voted Republican The Democrat one: - Came from the president - Insulted people of a political persuasion - Is unlikely to have directly upset many people who might vote Democrat Which of those factors is more important is debatable, but there are subtle yet definite differences.
  22. I’ve wondered lately whether it would be possible to have a delayed agreement, where the West agrees now to officially recognise the invaded areas of Ukraine as Russian in around 15 years’ time - ie when Putin’s likely shuffled off this mortal coil. Meanwhile the rest of Ukraine doesn’t join NATO but groundwork would be laid for future conflict and defence, eg the imposition of a no-fly zone.
  23. If the deplorable Jenrick somehow loses his party vote, I reckon he has “desert to Reform” written all over him.
  24. It’s bananas. The Tories have literally just been in power for one and a half decades, yet now they (read: Jenrick) are making out there’s some sort of clandestine cover-up going on. I mean, come off it. If there were any foundations for a cover-up to even be possible, their lot must have laid them.
  25. Cults need leaders. Trump’s followers worship him, but worship doesn’t tend to switch to a successor that easily. In fact, I reckon there would likely be a big split regarding who his successor would even be.
