Joined the match thread late due to work stuff... Glad to get a goal early. The defense is holding up, barely. Liverpool are laying siege at times, but we are still playing pretty damn well and looking dangerous on the counter. Hopefully no work stuff will interrupt the second half.

Stating the obvious first -- this ain't gonna happen. However, doing the maths. We are a bit over 1/6 of the season. 21 points from 8 matches. Calculates out to a 120 point season. Not too shabby.

I subscribe to the 'on any given day' philosophy. Maybe they play the kids and we surprise them on the break. Maybe they play a mixed squad (some regular starters) but we surprise them tactically. Still gonna watch, still gonna hope. And Klopp can still eat one.

Excellent win! Up the Maresca! I wrote before the match I was buzzing to see how the big squad rotation would work out. And as might be expected, some (most) of the rotated-in players played well and a few didn't. But just think about how many young players (25 and under) with bags of potential we have in the squad now! And (I had to look this up) Iheanacho and Ndidi are only 26! Winks is only 27! If even half of the youngster contingent fulfills their potential, we will be a monster club. So, Casadei was average to below today. OK, hook him off early and get a known good quantity on the pitch. Today I loved Winks, Choudhury, Yunus, Mavididi, Vestergaard (!), and KDH when he came on. Bring on Bristol City!

Pretty damn nice subs to have available and to bring on, KDH and Ndidi. Have at 'em, boys!
