  1. Having seen him twice in 2006 I wasn't quite as bothered this time around - it's a bit different when you've not seen someone before or haven't seen them for AGES. I do find that if you see a turn quite a few times, although it doesn't get boring, the magic does wear off a bit. The first time I ever saw Morrissey, I was just in complete awe that I was actually seeing my musical hero, and at close quarters too. Although I've enjoyed the shows of his I've been to since, you can never quite recapture that excitement of the first time, so I feel less bad about being too lazy to organise tickets when he plays now
  2. The UK tour sold out on the day, even Hull, I believe. Is he really that popular or is it just the ebay wankers ruining it for everyone? When I saw him at Rock City in 1999 I bought the tickets from the venue about a fortnight before the gig
  3. Anyone that hangs out with Girls Aloud can't be all bad
  4. Ash! Those swine at the Official Charts Company have been messing with the figures again to make it look like Oasis aren't the biggest band in the universe: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7802941.stm Scouting for Girls indeed. I'm hoping The Fall play a town that I can be bothered to travel to soon
  5. Yesterday was beyond depressing, but my brother came down today with my nieces so Boxing Day was much more fun. I helped build a Disney Princess Castle - I'm a practical kind of guy
  6. One of the bleakest Christmas's yet. I was so bored I watched Doctor Who, which wasn't as good as vacuuming my car, which I did this afternoon. You've got a lot to answer for, Jesus
  7. That all sounds like some wonderful dream. I don't really drink, and this is one of those times where I feel like I'm missing out
  8. I was about to post that. It's hard to top, isn't it?
  9. Vauxhall Customer Care. Or Vauxhall customer Don't Care, more like. DYSWIDT?
  10. Sorry about that
  11. I've just discovered something even worse. Spending £450 on a new clutch for a car with less than 22k on the clock, and finding that it hasn't fixed the problem. Anyone want to buy an Astra? Only 22k on the clock. Runs beautifully. Errm...
  12. It's not really one of those (it's a design fault quite common on my car) but I know what you mean. I had a 306 and nearly EVERYTHING went wrong on it, and usually at great expense, and like a complete idiot I got it fixed at the Peugeot garage. It was possibly the worst car ever built reliability wise...I know Peugeot don't enjoy a brilliant reputation for reliability, but if they were all as bad as mine was they'd have gone out of business years ago. I think one of the problems with it was that it was built in Britain. The only positive, if you can call it that, about the work I've just had done is that the local Vauxhall dealer quoted me £1,100.00. Yes, you read it right. Cheers guys
  13. (no pun intended) Spending £450 on a new clutch for a car with less than 22k on the clock. OUCH
  14. Tears usually. Boom boom! Did you see what I did there? Comedy gold
  15. I've concluded that I work for the least efficient company in the western world. I've got no proof of this, of course, but I struggle to imagine that anyone else could be as dysfunctional as we are
  16. You'll all be as ecstatic as I am to learn that the cardigan has been replaced. On the subject of nieces, I have two, and I much prefer the slightly slower one that clearly can't be bothered to learn to speak, whereas the other more precocious one talks far too much for my liking
  17. There's a point where life begins? If it starts a bit late, I don't mind, so long as it does
  18. Advanced. By that I mean 33 Having worked in retail in Leicester many moons ago, I think you might be right. The state that some people brought stuff back in was unbelievable, which meant you got very cynical about returns generally
  19. I thought it was just my age. It was much nicer than the one they had in Next. It's the one shop where I feel completely relaxed about taking stuff back, because I know there's no chance of them being arseholes about it
  20. Buying a lovely cardigan from Marks and Spencer and finding there's a big hole in it. These child workers in Bombay really need to get their act together
  21. I think the powers that be have decided that no-one's interested in how anyone's day went I've always quite fancied going to Ireland, but I'm not going to now
  22. When people in the work environment add the words 'at all' to any question they ask, whether or not it makes sense if they do. 'Can I help at all?' works because they may be able to help a bit or a lot, but 'can I put you through to John at all?' doesn't, because you either do or don't want be put through to John - there's no middle ground, you hopeless twat. 'Would you like a cup of tea at all?' Oh god help me. What's wrong with 'Would you like a cup of tea?' It makes no sense to me, particularly as in this golden age of text speak where everything is abbreviated to the point that it's practically a new language, some people insist on adding words to speech where there's no need for them. At all. Arrrrrgh brain implodes
  23. Whoever proof reads for that website needs to pay more attention. Absolute cvnt though, granted
  24. There aren't any lighthouses but there's a lovely quarry, which isn't a bad substitute. The pubs were really nice and full of friendly people with the exception of one man who was in a confused and angry state and started to attack a door. The letters F, S and A in that order make me break into a cold sweat, and the comment you made about people having no personality make me think you're talking about the same FSA I know and love
  25. I'm knackered now but I've had a great weekend, apart from the football. Went on a stag do in Wirksworth, Derbyshire last night (we are pretty old) and had a great time. I want to move there now, it's lovely
