Agreed. He's the boxer I grew up on and the one who truly got me into watching boxing. I think the reason why seeing sportspeople taking their own lives is sad is because there's a certain image of sportspeople being rich and happy. When the obvious unfortunate reality a lot sports athletes struggle once they hit retirement and then sometimes it leads to tragic outcomes.

Also going back to it boxing was at it's best around Hatton & Calzaghe time, whereas personally now boxing just isn't great anymore. There's no British boxer with a huge following now unless you count Fury but you never know if he's retired or not, one hour he is the next hour he's not. Hatton & Calzaghe were genuinely the last two British boxers with a huge following.

Completely agree with that shout but arguably just following alone I'd say Ricky just edges it. You won't ever see the type of following Ricky got ever again I don't think.
