  1. I don't know what he’s on, but I’ll have what the Mercury journo is having:
  2. I assume it’s a process because our defenders/keeper are still coming to terms with what our manager wants. Constantly playing from the back obviously comes with certain risks and we will concede silly goals what ever division we are in. But the manager has calculated the benefits outweigh the costs (keeps possession, pulls opposition players out of position, can tire the opposition, can be used against counter attacks……) Against Blackburn I thought in the 1st half we got duped into adopting their gung ho attitude. We were much better when we passed it around in a slower more composed way. moreover, I don’t think we actually have the players to play any differently now. Rightly or wrongly, the club had fully supported the manager and his footballing philosophy.
  3. That was the sort of win that wins you Championships. Although entertaining, In the first half I thought we we’re duped into matching Blackburn’s ‘youthful enthusiasm’. Much more composed and patient in the second half. At the beginning of the season I was critical of Wilf and couldn’t see he remained in the starting 11 (especially after his performance against Hull). But he’s been outstanding in the last 4 games. I watch this team and think to myself “if only”. Rodgers/Ward and a general malaise across the club cost us our Premiership status. If we survived in the Premiership, we would of had a golden opportunity to rebuild and progress. Especially when you consider 2 of the three relegation spots are already possibly decided (Luton/Sheffield United).
  4. My thoughts on the match. The system we are playing is asking a lot of our central defenders (The offensive shift Faes and Doyle put in was immense ). Winks has to realise he’s going to be a marked man in many games this season and adapt accordingly. Ndidi needs to be benched. In this league Casadei is a Rolls Royce of a player and needs to start. I’m not sure what role Iheanacho is expected to play in this system. I presume he was supposed to be was a false nine. If so, he needs to improve quickly. overall, it was just one of those matches. Hull were well organised, scored a goal and defended. I think we will be around the top of the league at the end of the season.

  6. Hence why I said to a lesser extent. I’ve seen Fulham a couple of times and Brentford a few times (I work and spend weekdays in London). I agree Brentford can play dynamic football, but there is a significant to Toney. https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11748/12845609/brentford-thomas-frank-tactics-analysed-bees-face-brighton-when-premier-league-resumes-this-weekend
  7. Off the top of my head: Everton (and a lesser extent) Fulham and Brentford.
  8. I agree. But there’s many Premiership clubs that still do.
  9. I imagine a key factor for Man City is ensuring any interested club holds a similar footballing philosophy. No use in sending him to a Premiership club who will constantly hoof the ball up to him with the hope of him flicking it on or holding it up.
  10. Again: “The 33-year-old has not played a competitive game of football since playing on loan for then Championship side Reading on April 30 2022, and has been without a club since”.
  11. “The 33-year-old has not played a competitive game of football since playing on loan for then Championship side Reading on April 30 2022, and has been without a club since being released by Chelsea last summer”.
  12. Are Man City a big club?
  13. Some of the responses are worrying. If we start this season with “we are in Premiership club in the Championship” attitude, then we are truly fu#%ed. And rightly so. Winks is a decent option at this level and would get in most, if not all, Championship clubs. He’s a decent tackler, can pass, and keep possession. His experience would be invaluable and could be another positive influence (could be a mentor for the likes Braybrookes).
  14. I thought all Italians were naturally stylish. His jeans/formal jacket combo definitely has a Jeremy ‘ the doyen of dad denim’ Clarkson vibe to it.
  15. Not just the fans. I imagine the owner will start getting impatient.
  16. I image he has been give assurances that money is available. It obviously it won’t be Prem levels, but I can see us being one of the biggest Championship spenders this summer.
  17. I wholeheartedly agree. If he want to be a close advisor to the owner, then fine. But like you say, there is no accountability. It’s absolutely absurd that he’s allegedly overseeing the ‘WTF went wrong’ review. It’s a pointless exercise which will never get to the truth of the matter, therefore learning nothing.
  18. I assume it’s because his role goes way beyond simply being a DoF. He’s basically a Consigliere (obviously without the criminal element).
  19. 1. Rudkin had a ltd role in us winning the Prem/FA cup 2. Rudkin had a key role in us getting relegated Both of these statements can be correct.
  20. Agree. Also, and I sincerely hope I’m wrong, but I can’t help but feel that he’s reached his peak and his trajectory is only going one way. His performances/attitude weren’t great this season. I don’t think you can simply rest this at a switch of a button. Although a change of scenery may help.
  21. All depends on his/agents wage demands. If he’s looking for £150k +, then I imagine the only clubs who can/or willing to pay that kind of money are mid/lower table Prem clubs.
  22. Needs to change his job title from Director of Football to Consigliere!!!! Daily Telegraph 14/05/2023: Rudkin reports directly to Top, as he did Vichai, and is his boss’ chief advisory voice on all matters from signings to managerial sackings and appointments. Rudkin was handpicked by Vichai for what has been a dizzying rise. The late owner was very much the kind of employer who sought out people he liked and rated, and he would trust them. It is fair to point out that Rudkin was there in the glory years under Vichai. Rudkin’s status grew to the extent that he is also the ultimate boss for the Srivaddhanaprabha family on their other major British sporting operation: King Power Racing (KPR). It would also be right to say at this point that the club play down Rudkin’s role in KPR. They say that he is more of a conduit between the bloodstock manager Alastair Donald, various trainers and the ownership, previously Vichai and now Top. Others see it differently and that Rudkin is understood to play a key part in the decisions on acquisitions of horses and with which trainers they are placed. KPR has around 100 horses with different trainers, and has been one of the top ten racing operations in Britain at times, perhaps even bigger.
  23. Vardy’s goal against Liverpool (2015/16). Win at Man City (2015/16). Beating Man United (2014/15). Seville (2016/17). Beating Villa (2015/16). FA cup final.
  24. It’s a personal thing. Would you be buzzing if Putin bought the club?
