Have you seen what we have in the younger ages? U14 have 2 very promising keeper prospects. Both very highly regarded in the academy. Looking forward to seeing their progress.

It was also against a mixture of our U13 and U14. 1st game back and half the squad only had 1 or 2 training sessions. They weren't great and we defo had more chances but our 2 strikers not there so we played without natural strikers. Joys of pre season.😂

My son is in the academy (he's in that video above) and we most definitely play out from the back and focus on trying to break the lines. Doesn't matter if we win or lose as long as they play the way the academy want them to. We defo don't just lump it forward. Costs us at times in tournaments when even other cat 1 academies play the long ball and nick a goal or 2.

To be fair I'm a massive fatty weighing in at 22 stone and think I'm even fitter than Tielemans!!

Leicester have never asked any of our lads not to play football for the school. My son's year 7 and has played for the school. There's only maybe 2 in the whole age group that don't play for the school too and that is the parents decision not to let them play. I'm not overly keen on my son playing for the school to be honest. He gets frustrated with not being able to play his football style and the risk of him being injured makes me want to say no to it but all the time he wants to do it I'll let him.

His dad is extremely vocal about how sh*t Leicester academy training is and how sh*t the other players in the age group are. We luckily don't cross paths too often as we only train on the same night on Thursdays. 😂

Spot on. He has trained and played with my son who is in the age above him. When he has done so he hasn't been effective and the boys have just been frustrated with him. Yes superb skills but he does not affect the game and just does skills at times he doesn't need to. If he was to focus on being effective Naz could be superb. My son's age group has a few players to be excited about in my opinion. Looking forward to watching them grow together.

Not at that age. I think you can recruit nationally from U12 with full time education.

Tell me about it... I wouldn't do it because I have other kids too. Imagine 2 years later at 10 or 11 your lad turns round and says "I don't want to play anymore". Sod that. 😂😂😂 Be a bit different when they get to 14/15 with full time boarding school on offer though.

It's the last year or so I'd say. They've lost quite a few physios, haven't seen many sports science around either. It's like there's been gradual cuts. Quite a few parents have said the same thing.

Yes we would've had to relocate and were asked if we were "thinking about moving". 😂

No it's standard EPPP rules. That if registration is offered and is refused the club retain the right to compensation from another club. Up to end of U12 registration is 1 year at a time. After that it's 2 years until U16 then it's scholarship or gone. We are on the last year of single year registrations. Going in to 2 year registration next season. If we refuse that registration then the club will retain their rights to compensation. If the club release my son he is free to go to another club without compensation owed. It's complicated but there is the EPPP premier league academy charter which is the "rule book", easily found on the web if you're interested.

With regard to going to another club. It wouldn't be that easy. If we wanted to pull him from the academy it would be something like £50k compensation owed to LCFC. He'd need to be released to go somewhere else. I wouldn't give up on the club just yet. He loves it and would absolutely hate me if I pulled him out. 😂

My son has been there for 6 years since he was 6. He had offers with Man City, Arsenal, Utd, Villa amongst others but we chose to sign with Leicester at U9 because of the new facility being 7 minute drive from our house. We've seen the decline in atmosphere over the past 2 years and like I said something doesn't feel right throughout the ages. My son is one of the better players in the age group and yes you are right there is certainly a factor of making up numbers. We have 25 odd kids with trialists and you most definitely don't have 25 stars there. There's a definite core of players that are standout though.

Sometimes lately I regret signing my son to the academy. There does seem to be an issue at all age groups. The feel around the place just seems off. Don't see as many staff around the place. No physios on training nights, don't see sports science around anymore. Just seems like they're making big cuts.

Yes it's a fee paying school. The club pays for the schooling for a number of players at that age that are on the full time model. The parents can choose not to accept and keep the lads with their mates in their current schools though. I know a few that didn't take up the schooling and still got the scholarship at 16.

Yes, they have a program with Ratcliffe college for U15& U16. Not all players get it but those that are on the full time model. You can also opt out of it.

My son is in the U12 squad. I'd rather not have that option. 😂
