Never in doubt
-
Great news about Josh signing a new three-year deal. Profile of Jack Lees, who's currently on trial with the 2nd XI.
-
A fluent 35 from 24 balls before his fun was stopped by an excellent catch at deep long-on.
-
Today's 2nd XI team v Durham: NMJ Reifer, HJ Swindells*†, JP Lees, ST Evans, SB Wood, JM Tarling, RI Walker, MET Salisbury, U Ramji, JTS Sumerauer, A Farooq
-
We have 2nd XI T20 games home to Durham on Monday and Tuesday; possible chance for Swindells (and Goldsworthy) to stake a claim.
-
He injured his shoulder diving in the field and couldn't move it this morning; going for a scan tomorrow. No doubt he'll be fully fit and chomping at the bit by the time the return game rolls around in early July!
-
Everyone has a claim apart from Budinger, Patel, Handscomb and Cox.
-
Revised starting XI for tonight based on Goldsworthy batting at 9 for Somerset in his previous T20s in 2022: Budinger Patel Kimber Handscomb (c) Mulder Rehan A Cox (wk) Mike Goldsworthy Holland Currie 7 genuine all-rounders!
-
Davey....Green....Goldsworthy.....Thomas is certainly working his Somerset connections! Yes, left arm spinning all-rounder, he took 2-1 in a T20 2nd XI game against Gloucestershire earlier this week - see videos Has batted at number 3 for them in the Championship, in September scoring 122 against Kent in a CC match.
-
Listening to the Talking Foxes podcast, there won't be any Trevaskis for the early stages of the Blast and the club was in the market for a left-arm spinner, if they can find one going spare.
-
Fantastic final-ball ton made by Mike off just 45 deliveries in a losing cause.
-
I don't think it's been mentioned on here to date but on the day 1 report, they said he was unavailable due to a back injury.
-
Can you copy or give the gist as it's subscribers only. Is Tom Scriven crocked, only bowled the four overs today?
-
Hill's bat was a good 3 or 4 inches away from the ball, it can only be a second shocking lbw decision even if the scorebook currently says caught????
-
Sailed past 700 for the first time in their history
-
Giving the team that week off to go on the lash together down Benidorm looks like backfiring
-
A few changes to the squad from the Middlesex CCC game and still no CW. Although he's not in Somerset's 14-man squad for their game tomorrow, I believe Ben Green has ended his loan spell. IN: Salisbury, Swindells OUT: Budinger, Green, Trevaskis
-
Hull's played in all 3 rounds of 2nd XI fixtures against Yorkshire, Northants and the current game v Derbyshire. On figures alone, he hasn't done enough to break into the first XI.
-
Latest episode of Talking Foxes is out now inc. an interview with a very level-headed Tom Scriven, rightly described as the best number 10 in world cricket - averaging a shade under 27 with x7 50s in 33 innings. Still no return for Wright by the sound of it.
-
This would be my starting XI for the T20s: Budinger Patel Hill Kimber Handscomb (c/wk) Mulder Rehan A Mike Trevaskis Scriven Currie While taking a wicket or too, Hull travels a bit too much to make the first XI but could switch with Currie when required. Swindells as 'next cab' if form or injury necessitates a change to the batting line-up. Either way, the main thing is no Aaron Lilley!!
-
Great stuff, he must be relieved after being run out on 99 last game and then stuck on 97* when the last man (Currie) walked out to bat!
-
Derbyshire CCC's Chief Executive Ryan Duckett, is likewise on the Trent Rockets Board.... I imagine it likewise offers almost nothing of tangible benefit to their county team, certainly on the men's side. Don't shoot the messenger, I hate the bloody thing too!
-
Isn't that less down to choice and more down to the fact that the Trent Rockets are meant to 'represent' Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and the Foxes?
-
Andrew Miller at Cricinfo has published an interview with Sean Jarvis today, which is an interesting read. Jarvis for example, would like to see an open, two-tier Hundred competition with promotion and relegation. Unfortunately no chance of that!
-
17 year-old EPP youngster Usman Minhas could be a name to look out for in the future after an excellent 90 on his 2nd XI debut (I think) against Finan & co. v Northants. Roman Walker's also back amongst the wickets on his return from injury.
