  1. Standards of cricket commentary on the radio and streams nationally have dropped dramatically in recent years. We have been lucky to have Richard Rae for as long as we have. The BBC should hang their heads in shame.
  2. Our old friend Wiaan Mulder had a nightmare tonight. 28 off one nine ball over for Essex!
  3. He did, frequently, especially on radio. The BBC has deserted Leicester and abandoned their own values. Tonight’s performance on radio was far worse than what happened on the field. Those commentators were beyond clueless. Might as well have invited the cast of Vicar of Dibley to do it: I’m sure that Alice Tinker and Jim Trott could have done better! No, no, no, no, yes!
  4. Cox and Kelly tried hard to make a silk purse out of the sows ear that they were presented with by previous batters and bowlers alike. A very disappointing evening all round.
  5. Who is the commentator on the stream?
  6. Capitulation implies a deliberate act. Are you implying that they deliberately threw the game?
  7. No. Capitulation is the act of surrendering, yielding, or ceasing resistance to an opponent or a demand. That isn’t what happened today. We were competing on even terms for two days but the conditions this morning strongly favoured the Essex bowlers and we were beaten fair and square. You can’t fault the effort of our boys.
  8. I just wish we had an attack of comparable quality.
  9. Underlines just how unlucky we have been. This morning we faced the perfect storm of top quality bowlers and perfect bowling conditions.
  10. Come off it! Kelly has only been in the country five minutes and you feel that today’s innings qualifies you to cast judgement on him!!
  11. The contrast between the three commentators in the box at Essex this week speaks volumes for the quality of Richards work. I can’t believe that the BBC don’t recognise this.
  12. Richard Rae says goodbye to the airwaves today and I for one will miss him. I should like to thank him for his excellent service over the years and wish him well for the future (and hopefully for an unexpected return to the mic).
  13. Singh has sung his last song!
  14. There’s also a player called OB Rayner playing for the twos today. Any relation to OP Rayner?
  15. Probably heat stroke. These Aussies don’t see a lot of the sun at home!
  16. Why is Ajaz playing rather than Trevaskis%?
  17. Id like them to cancel Trump but he is still ever present on my TV.
  18. I have written to the BBC expressing my views much along the lines of George Dobell’s article in The Cricketer. I’m not holding my breath though!
  19. Rae is a good commentator. He is easy to listen to and describes the game properly in a way that verbally paints a picture of the action, making it easy to visualise. It’s a valuable skill. There are plenty worse on the circuit! Some of the non-BBC people on the county streams are just dreadful. Be careful what you wish for (or blindly accept). We’ll miss him when he’s gone.
  20. We’re ahead on bonus points too. Surrey 5 batting 1 bowling Leicestershire 5 batting 2 bowling
  21. Couldn’t agree more. Huge congratulations to him. Terrific bloke too!
  22. Has anybody noticed that we are ahead in this game!! Fantastic effort by all the boys.
