When im watching golf now, its a game that I once felt as a decent amateur, i could get fairly close to pros in SOME ways.
Now I watch the golf and its just bonkers, particularly the clubhead speed and ball speed factors.
Min Woo Lee was recording constant driver ball speeds in excess of 190MPH....its unreal.
Average clubhead speed on tour with driver has gone up 3 miles per hour in the last 5 years alone.
Guys like Matt Fitzpatrick, small guys, cranking out 175mph ball speed at will.
Its actually the guys at the other end of the field, the guys who have to rely on SKILL rather than power to play the course that interest me.
You could say Morikawa falls into that bracket. Hes a little shorter than PGA tour average.
I do feel its leaving a group of great ballstrikers behind now.
One of my favourite swings on tour is Lucas Glover, but he cant compete on a week to week basis, despite being a major champion.
I think it makes performances by the likes of Chris Kirk (Honda winner), Tom Hoge (Sawgrass course record), Russell Henley (Mayakoba winner) etc all the more impressive IMO
