Rowett is here on a temporary basis till the end of the season. We've just brought in a Technical Director who will be appointing a proper manager in the summer.

I'm just looking ahead and seeing if he will be provided the tools necessary to succeed over here. Player Development implies his job was heavily academy and youth focused. How much say would he have had on first-team matters and upstairs management? At Leicester City he will be tasked with sporting strategy, philosophy, recruitment, transfers, club structure and operations. Not to mention he will have to deal with the idiotic Rudkin as his boss, not a recipe for success when your own boss is out of his depth.

The worrying part is as someone said above, his role at Man City was Director of Player Development. Which is much more niche and less senior compared to the role of DoF/TD. Lets hope he is well prepared for the duties he will face and the chaos here.
