I think attributing "this style" with Russell Martin is disingenuous. He's a charlatan manager that believes possession in and of itself is enough, trying to mimick succesful coaches who are actually good at managing. (Pep, Maresca, Luis Enrique) Possession-based football is not the problem, Russell Martin is the problem. He's a terrible manager at the root of it.
