Russell Martin - Confirmed as First Team Manager
BlueBus replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Such a strange argument as well because his win % is atrocious, it's not like he's some sort of coup and we don't like him because of his tactics. Any manager who has had moderate success in the last 4 years, in any league, would have done me. -
Russell Martin - Confirmed as First Team Manager
BlueBus replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
I don't think I've ever felt like this after an appointment, it's genuine disappointment and has just made me feel less connected from the club. I hope he does well but I just don't understand it at all, a club in free fall employing a manager who's career is in free fall and expecting it to go well. -
"Should be able to bring in former players" Please God, no more Southampton players!
-
Next season realistically we'll be viewed as a promotion contender in the championship IF we get promoted (big if) and we probably offer bigger wages than most Championship teams, so it's whether you can play to a few of these managers egos to think that we're their quickest way back to the Premier League over teams like Stoke or Portsmouth etc.
-
That included half of the promotion season as well
-
I saw someone say on the LM that his win rate in his last 65 games is 27%. That's worse than any team outside the relegation zone in League One...

Show me a screenshot from any social media comment of a Leicester fan who thinks this is a good appointment 😂 https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/I6c6g7We0o The entire football community is feeling sorry for us.

What's mad is that the board sacked Cooper whilst he was performing better in the league than Martin. Russell Martin has won 5 games since that day.
-
My main issue is his personality, his "if a player makes a mistake, I take the blame" despite the fact he called his team pathetic when they lost to us 5-0. His last two clubs held banners calling for his head and his football is dated now, football moves on quickly and that brand of possession football is dying, even Guardiola had done away with it. I may be proved wrong but either way, it's another kick in the teeth that the board went to him when the fans clearly wanted anyone but him, all whilst claiming they wanted to build back trust.
-
He did a great job in representing Leicester City I think, completely ignored the feeling of the fans! It was really bizarre, he's new in the job, so I don't know if he's trying to cozy up to the club maybe?
-
I've never like the guy, so I'm definitely being harsh on RM but this forum lost it's mind at Maresca's 2nd half of the season and we finished top!
-
Maybe we should hire Roy Keane based on that one season he had at Sunderland. His entire career is built around an amazing 25 game unbeaten streak, which is impressive but this is how they finished that season.
-
How are Burnley interested? There's something about this bloke I'm not seeing. 6 wins in his last 33 games. We sacked Cooper whilst he was higher in the league than him. None of his ex-clubs like him.
-
The Mercury said the following on Russell Martin "the prospect is one that has divided fans". I know they want to keep the club happy but come on, I have never seen the fan base so aligned on an issue, absolutely nobody wants Russell Martin.

What is the point of our fan advisory board I'd like to ask
-

I don't know if you didn't realise this, we are at a shite level.
-
Rudkin, if the rumours are true and you do read this forum, PSV are selling this guy, he's big, young and scores goals. Though Caranza and Ruud might put us off strikers from the Dutch league!

Summer 26 Transfer rumours 'X' and other Weak Links
BlueBus replied to davieG's topic in Transfer Talk
Are the players we've been linked with in the room with us? -
"The KP group, for all its mistakes, has no track record of taking speculative punts on managers whose stock has fallen as much as Martin’s;" Ironically, apart from Ranieri!
-
Fake news. The Athletic released an article about Arsenal's summer transfer window plans which mentioned Monga. "The club are pursuing a deal for Leicester City’s 16-year-old winger Jeremy Monga. With Monga due to sign professional terms with Leicester this summer, it’s thought the England U-19 international could command a fee in the region of £10-15million. It would represent a considerable investment — but Arsenal’s owners are enthused about the prospect of signing young players with room to develop and increase in value."
-
Maybe I'm delusional but from I'd imagine outsiders perspective would see it more likely that Leicester do back-to-back promotions than getting Blackburn getting promoted in the next 2 seasons. That's from an outsiders perspective, as anyone who knows the club well enough knows how much needs to change.
-
I simply cannot believe this is true. I know everyone involved with the club has no interest in what the fans have to say but come on, why would you pick a manager you know isn't going to get support from the fans, it's beyond tone deaf. Baffles me why they treat Southampton as such a well-oiled machine that we should take all their players and management. We're 0 from 4 with Bertrand, Vestegaard, Glover and Aribo in terms of successes.
-
There are a lot of clubs with deep pockets interested. I imagine we'll get a good fee for him, as we should be able to create a bidding war.
