It’s on the first page and I have previously highlighted it. On one hand when it goes well, it’s down to the manager, but when it goes wrong it’s all down to the owners. As I said it’s a case of both for the two instances and in recent years the failings have been racking up and not enough changes were made to avoid a repeat of these failures and if changes are not made at board level, expect more of the same.

This is all good in retrospect, but just because we won the league doesn’t mean it wasn’t a hard sell to attract players that would normally be enthusiastic about signing for the champions of England. This was a total mess and the registration process and the clubs involvement no doubt affected the players career trajectory. It’s not like the board held onto money we made from transfers, the funds were reinvested. I don’t see this as a failing of the owners, Rudkin was never going to get sacked at that stage after we won the league and players like Kante and DD being sold were filling the coffers.

In response to the other poster that said they supplied the money and it was all thanks to Pearson and Co. Lots of chairmen just put up money, it went further than that the risk ended up being worth the reward. They could’ve played it safe and stayed within the clubs limits like other clubs did and we might never have been promoted and gone into win Premier league. As we have seen in later years, the punt doesn’t always pay off and we are now were we are because those later punts have failed. Ie the push for Europe/CL contracts and deadweights. In a multiverse somewhere maybe those calculated risks payed off and the team didn’t capitulate twice at the end of the season small margins and all that. I’m not suggesting it has been run well, but let’s be honest lots of chairmen pump money into clubs. Many cash rich chairmen don’t experience 80 percent of what we have in the last 10 years. So they have done more than just supply money. If it was that easy it wouldn’t have been such a remarkable feat Clearly there is a pattern of high risk and reward, but when it fails it fails spectacularly.

The point is, it’s not JUST down to Pearson though. If he was such a miracle worker regardless of a chairmen’s input and squad he would’ve have a host of promotions from the Championship with Bristol City and Hull. It was a good strategy because we ended up getting promoted for the first time in 10 plus years. Without those dodgy sponsorship deals in place , we wouldn’t have had the highest wage to turnover in the league and wouldn’t have had the strength of squad we did. whether is was ethical or not who cares, just like nobody did at the time. Just like nobody really cared when we were getting promoted last season and challenging loopholes despite accounts showing how poorly the finances had been run in prior seasons. If people are going to look back at things retrospectively and criticise, then it’s probably best to maintain that stance even when things are going well.

Lots of clubs finish 3rd 4th and 5th and 6th and don’t get promoted. Finishing there once and getting to the playoff semi final doesn’t mean you’re on way to promotion. if it was that easy it wouldn’t have taken a further 3 attempts

Depends how you define the core foundations, they were promoted from a league that we had never played in, and walked it. As was expected at the time. Nigel done well to get to the play offs the following year. if you talk about foundations to success, it’s not 4 years later with only Andy King and Dyer left from the squad that made the playoffs. Foundations to success for me are those players that went on to do the great escape then winning league. If it was simply down to the Pearson it wouldn’t have taken him 4 attempts. The true test was becoming a success in the championship that needed Vichais money and dodgy sponsorship dealings to push on and get promoted. In 13/14 the club spent £36m on wages. £5m more than total income other clubs were furious that they had to abide by FFP rulings to avoid sanctions whilst Leicester continued to spend and added player like Mahrez during the season.

Subjective Without Vichais dodgy dealings we wouldn’t have 1 amassed the squad/foundations that we did. 2 even have been promoted

There was a lot of self belief the last time we went down. Players believed they were unfortunate to get relegated after finishing in 8th the season before. Dean Smiths effort with shakey to restore some confidence as manager that now looks Prime Wenger compared to RVN run. This time, they are going to know they are not good enough if they did get promoted again, record breakers for all the wrong reasons. Fear factor for the other teams playing them, not exactly going to be bothered about facing Leicester after such a dismal display this season.where as before we were being lauded as having a reserve team worthy of winning the champ. Top needs to pull his head out of Rudkins arse and make a decision quick, because it’s not just PSR they will be battling next season, it’s the knock on effect of the pleb in control.
