and spend the money on a fee/s instead of wages to replace him?
-
Doesn’t make sense anyway, long term contract (3 plus years) signed before 2025 are subject to exemptions from SCMP in league one if the club has just been relegated from the championship
-
Rumoured to be on 15k a week, if Vardy didn’t leave maybe we wouldn’t have seen the loan players arrive. Most were dog shit anyway, on a side note Edouard is a weird one couldn’t get a sniff and just helped Lens qualify for the champions league 12/29
-
Would you expect him to say anything else? Rewind a season before and it was touch and go if he stayed, plus given the fact that we didn’t purchase a single player I find it very unlikely that he would’ve been offered anything near the money he was on even the last time in the championship even if it had a 40% reduction. If there was money available a player would’ve been signed on a free to replace him as opposed to low level loans.

Recently Birmingham and an Oxford sacking. Excluding his time in the prem because where we are now is worlds apart, In the Scottish league he had 7 league games, Rangers just finished like they started. I’m not sure how you can say he isn’t comparable they both had shit records Rowett should’ve done better as should’ve Martin. Rowett was managing a former Prem team in a shit division and managed 2 wins in 14. Whilst Martins stock may be down for championship clubs, I wouldn’t be totally dismissive of his chances as a league one manager. I hope it isn’t him but who knows. You have highlighted our defensive records, but equally the last couple of seasons including that horrific Prem run setting records for blanks, and more recently Rowett finishing with a goal a game for 14 games could mean they prioritise attacking. It then depends how you look at his time in 23/24 4th best attack in the league 12th worst defensive record. Maybe they will be swung by the attacking record or the thought that he can progress the club in the next couple of years to a top end championship club.

Rowett wasn’t exactly riding the crest of wave in terms of recent success having just been given the bullet from a team in the relegation spots. Given the fact that we are now in an even worse position than when he was appointed, I’d imagine they would view Russel Martin as quite the coup. A manager with a promotion from the division above that went on a 25 match unbeaten run.

I would think it’s because we are sailing close to the wind in terms of finances. It would be pointless hiring anyone now unless there is sufficient funds to offset those costs. But given the following- No player purchases, Marti and team hired and fired, Rowett deal expense, Sponsorship issues, the additional boardroom staff costs? I would think we will see some money in from sales in the next month. If we use 23/24 as a template and ignore the variables our net transfer fees is very similar, but that doesn’t include a fee for Bilal yet and it doesn’t take into account KDH sale was on the 23/24 books

Might help he managed 90+ games in the same league 7 odd years ago

Hardly set the world alight at Rangers. “Rohl had won just eight out of his last 18 fixtures in all competitions when it all wound up with a victory at Falkirk. Against teams in the top six of the Premiership, he won seven out of 17. It’s atrocious for a squad that had £10million spent on it in the January window and still couldn’t keep weans out of a close. O’Neill, an old man who had been six years out of football, schooled Rohl last term. He highlighted so many of his deficiencies . Cornelius coming out of the woodwork to vent over his treatment just adds to the suspicion that the one-time Sheffield Wednesday manager simply isn’t cut out for the particular challenges of life as an Old Firm boss”

12/1 for the Liverpool Job I think he can do better than a league one team. I’m sure some top end championship team at the very least would want him, hoping he can do a “Lampard”

So are we that’s why we are in league one

A thread keeping an eye on what is happening, and at the same time highlighting how far we have fallen that it has to be in the general football forum.

About Spurs but seems mighty familiar Venkatesham added: “Our training centre is amazing, one of the best, if not the best in the world. But when you look around, it looks more like a five-star hotel than it does a performance environment

Ayew got 11 goal contributions in his previous season for Palace, Does that mean he couldn’t play at the highest level? Don’t get me wrong he has been fairly shit, but given his reported wage 30k and length of contract I don’t think he is the worst ever signing by a long shot. If the wages that are reported are correct £272k a goal Ayew £1.3m Daka over the last 2 years -

How does that even make sense, cost £5m scored 11 goals in 2 seasons. Wasnt even signed as a striker, yet there is someone that springs to mind that was signed as a striker for about 5 times as much has been on the payroll for 5 years and over the same period as an attacker managed 6 goals -
Nuno might be sacked, wouldn’t be surprised to see Parker get the job

Title should be changed to investment
