  1. You don't need many people to say no to the applications going in or to delay to the point of the developer giving up. Especially at present where the number of applications going in has nose-dived.
  2. It isn't helped that Leicester City Planning department is grim and development in the city centre is hampered at every turn. We need to increase the number of people that actually live in the city which means stopping Rayners attack on the countryside and producing a proper cities for the future plan. In Leicester we also have the problem of horrendous public transport and a mayor that has no interest in improving it. All the new cycle lanes are barely used and in some cases (Aylestone Road) are ugly and sh*t. We have nice paths like the GCR that are unusable at night due to the lack of lighting and crimes. TLDR Sort the transport out. Sort the planning authority out. Stop building in the countryside.
  3. We used to be ahead of Nottingham in every metric. The lack of investment in the city centre means we are now behind Nottingham and derby. Unfortunately there is a pride in the planning department in blocking development meaning there is little investment. Fosse park is increasingly taking over from the town centre.
  4. Many wondered why SKS had pulled Mandelsen back into politics and now we know. He can really relate to the US top politicians. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cwy9dwe50leo
  5. Labour have cleaned up their act IMO. Only 1 MP been sentenced to prison so far in this parliament is much better than the last one. Credit where credit is due.
  6. Go automated and pay the drivers to WFH. The union wins and the service works better.
  7. He always looked brilliant at youth level. Hope it works for him
  8. Lammy is odd, I thought he was doing ok as FS. Yvette Cooper hadn't achieved much, but hadn't dropped any big clangers either.
  9. Does he wear a Welshman's hat?
  10. This what you meant? Not enough self penned bangers in politics IMO.
  11. Not even the Guardian reported it in that manner. Should have got you to write the story. I imagine the 2 tier reporting comes from one being caught breaking the rules while being a minister while the other was caught following the rules (that you don't like) and she was married to a minister.
  12. Perhaps she should have voluntarily paid her tax a bit like Akshata Murty has, as she is one one of the tories you are unhappy with. Is she even a party member? Im not sure, close enough by association I suppose.
  13. I learned from the Labour front bench, that Israel haven't murdered the Prime Minister of Yemen. Thanks for the question Kim.
  14. I'll ask again, what has an unelected wife to a politician done wrong? Was she found to have broken a law or avoided tax? Or did she follow the laws of the land and pay taxes in the country in which they were earned? My understanding was that she then agreed voluntarily to pay tax in the UK?
  15. Our son isn't disabled, but at some point we will also put property into a trust for him. It's a sensible way of protecting assets from IHT until RR changes the law. I'm not any type of solicitor, but it's obvious the higher rate applies, I would only try it on if there was no fine involved and there were no consequences.
  16. I wonder why she decided to put the remainder of the stake in her house into a trust. I'm no expert but don't people often use trusts as a way of avoiding inheritance tax? A couple of quotes: “Don’t preach to us if you’re not paying your taxes and not doing the right thing.” “If people are going to be wealthy, it’s about sharing that wealth and understanding where that wealth comes from.”
  17. Racism?
  18. One of them has never worked in government and was simply a spouse.
  19. Didn't AM lose her job in government over the scandal of paying tax in India rather than the UK? Its a shame that after voluntarily choosing to pay in the UK rather than India she was still hounded out of office. It would be awful after his careless error if Zahawi kept his position as well.
  20. Probably different developers. It will probably turn up on ebay one day when someone finds it in a yard or lock-up. It happens quite often with historical items 'saved for later'.
  21. The newer application does confirm it will be a copy. I think the original one said they were re-siting the original.
  22. Its on the planning application. If they don't own it then they will need to submit a minor amendment. I suspect that would be waived through as long as they re-created the look on the drawings.
  23. The owners of the site have the old entrance in storage, its part of the planning application.
  24. What does the m stand for? I'm hopeful for the £1 part.
