  1. We are regularly on nearly 100% renewables, winter is an issue of course. But you already know this.
  2. Probably be sold here at international market rates. And taxed here at whatever crazy rate it is 80% of profit.
  3. It is?
  4. Until we aren't using any fossil fuels it's the right thing to do. Not having to transport it round the world means it will have less embedded carbon than the alternative.
  5. Like owning large areas of economically attractive land by 'paying' the right chieftain? All above board I understand. Good news that we are being threatened with no more Chinese investment after the British steel nationalisation I think. Shame in the short term, but the less we sell to them the better.
  6. Soft power sounds nice. Almost fluffy.
  7. I love how much you admire them, yet they remind me of Britain in 1850. The belt and road initiative is their British navy.
  8. Or a Chinese one. That ship has sailed though. It will be largest empire the world has seen at some point I suspect.
  9. Some of the people there you mean?
  10. Me neither, but like golf, other people enjoy it and its an outdoor activity that should be encouraged.
  11. Lets talk about fishing next, another pursuit I don't like but managed to catch one anyway.
  12. Only Tory and Reform voters play golf so that fine IMO. The golf courses should all go and be replaced with more economically accessible and diverse sports.
  13. It's the Barratt dream. Small orange-brick houses stretching as far as the eye can see, linked by endless winding roads. Every pavement lined with parked cars because public transport is hopelessly inadequate for vast, low-density estates. Seas of block paving dominate front gardens, driveways and shared spaces — hard surfaces replacing greenery while adding to heat, runoff and the sense of a place designed around cars rather than people. At every corner, a fenced-off depression doubling as a drainage swale. Tiny saplings planted here and there as a token gesture towards replacing the countryside and wildlife that were cleared to build it all. A masterclass in creating car dependency while calling it sustainable.
  14. I'm probably picky but I'm not a fan. I think for an out of town shopping centre it's poorly laid out and messy. It has too many car parks between the shops and it's unpleasant to walk around. I would have started a rebuilding programme along the lines of the new food court, with walkable mews between shops and all the parking on the outside. Better than the city I suppose.
  15. Nice idea except the City council don't know how to make the town centre better. Maybe they could both fail together?
  16. No. 36 goals in 2 appearances.
  17. Slightly different on the BBC. Glenfield Hospital has been included. Willoughby Waterleys and more land around Great Glen grabbed. I wonder what government employee lives just to the east of South Croxton and was due to be moved in Leicester City and now isn't?
  18. I have seen nothing in the plans that actually improve the city except grabbing council tax. Housing is still being pushed into 'the county' as it was so little private investment will go the city centre. Fair play to the city council though. They have left out Glenfield Hospital (costs money) and drawn boundaries around every expensive housing area and business park (gains money) without being tested at all by central government.
  19. Not for tiny bits of plasterboard or rubble.
  20. Whetstone Tip will now be free rather than charging for whatever they can. Every cloud.
  21. For the past couple of seasons...
  22. News outlets reporting that the Leicester City plan for reorganisation has been accepted. What a clusterf*ck. I thought this government wanted to devolve powers to local people and yet opinions of the local populace have been ignored. It probably means that will be last Labour mayor for a while, the city has just inherited a load of Reform/Tory voters.
  23. You won't be exporting anything really. That battery is plenty big enough and you will be using most of it as you generate. We have a 4.8kw battery and don't work from home. So we do tend to export half of our power generated in the summer months. We now have a heat pump which will be using that to heat the hot water.
