  1. If we have to pay compensation, it will very likely be pushed into the new accounting period. The £50m claim is highly dubious, though.
  2. Given that Luke Shaw is just returning from injury and we have no other left-footed left backs, the decision to omit Tyrick Mitchell from the final 26 seems a bit odd.
  3. Personally I'd be pleased with this outcome. Have there been any credible reports that Corberan would definitely take it if it was offered to him?
  4. The club wants to appoint a young manager who favours possession football like Enzo. We are not going to appoint David Moyes.
  5. Go for it mate. Not many folk want to be Rudkin, so it's a pretty clear field.
  6. Well I was planning to be the Top figure in this arrangement and spend the summer playing polo, watching horse racing and getting bladdered on Champagne. But sod it, let‘s go down the Stanny instead… @WestLothianFox and @ShepshedFox1884 will be joining us.
  7. Would you rather the club rushed to appoint somebody without interviewing a number of candidates and get it wrong?
  8. Either way, it seems unlikely we’ll go for Cooper simply because he’s cheap, as some have suggested we might.
  9. This would imply that we’re willing to pay the compensation required to get Corberan if he’s our first choice or if Potter turns us down - ie, we won’t be prioritising cheapness over suitability. Good news if true.
  10. Sure - you're in, but you'll have to negotiate with @Bluetintedspecs about your respective roles.
  11. The second of those was indeed the street I grew up in, so it's yours mate.
  12. Have we ever got nine points in a group at a World Cup or a Euros? I can't remember it happening. We always struggle in at least one of the group games. I'd bite your hand off for seven points right now.
  13. I'd only really be happy with somebody who grew up on the same street as me in Birstall, though I wouldn't object to somebody from another part of the village. I'm not parochial, though - at a push I'd even accept somebody from Thurcaston, Rothley or Wanlip.
  14. Has it been reported anywhere what Corberan’s position is - ie, will he take the job if offered? I haven’t seen anything…
  15. We can't give him any assurances about the points deduction as it's out of our hands, and Potter knows that. The only thing we can reassure him of is the transfer budget he will be given. If he turns us down, I suspect this will be the main reason; if he accepts, we can only assume the club has told him there is money to spend.
  16. It's not about us begrudging him a move. It's more a case of us begging him to leave when he doesn't want to.
  17. Betfair has just suspended it!
  18. Based on what?
  19. Well considering that we may not know that for several months, he’s got a long wait coming.
  20. The Euros start on Friday - ie, the 14th.
  21. When a journalist is told by a contact that we've spoken to a particular manager, it's in his/her interests to over-egg it in order to make it a story. An article which said, "Leicester have had an introductory conversation with Cooper to gauge his interest but there are 7-8 other candidates" is not particularly interesting. So instead we get, "Leicester focusing attention on Cooper" or similar.
  22. It means that a decent amount of money has been put on Potter to get the job and that, as a result, he is now 1/5 on the exchange.
  23. All true. The other thing that those who talk of the PL 'throwing the book at us' always forget is that it is not the PL that determines the punishment - it is the independent panel that reviews the case. And so far, these panels have always imposed lower deductions than those requested by the PL. If we're not given the two-point reduction for co-operation that Forest got, I can see us appealing that on the basis that our challenges to the PL and EFL were entirely legitimate. If anything, we were doing them a favour by helping them to understand their own rules better. We should get a four-point reduction in the punishment for that
  24. Given that the transfer window isn’t even open yet, how are we supposed to sell anybody?
