Speaking with the Swedish newspapersSvenska Dagbladet and Göteborgs-Posten, employees with the data annotation business Sama said that complaints about the review process have been met with swift termination. “You understand that it is someone’s private life you are looking at, but at the same time you are just expected to carry out the work,” one contractor said. “You are not supposed to question it. If you start asking questions, you are gone.” Graphic footage captured Meta has tasked Sama with a job known as data labeling, which requires humans to review and annotate video to train AI models. The glasses record footage any time a user enables a feature known as “live AI.” The feature allows users to ask questions and receive answers about what they are seeing. “Your glasses camera and microphone are continuously active during the session so that Meta AI’s responses are faster and related to what you’re seeing,” Meta says. But what people see and record isn’t private. Meta’s terms of use state that the company reserves the right to retain and review all interactions with its AI. Meta also says that users should refrain from sharing any sensitive information with its AI, given that it can be reviewed either by automated processes or humans. But the contractors say Meta has failed to properly inform users that their footage is being seen by humans. “In some videos you can see someone going to the toilet, or getting undressed,” a contractor said. “I don’t think they know, because if they knew they wouldn’t be recording.” In one incident, a contractor claims to have clearly seen a user’s debit card, including the account number. Other stories are much more graphic. Sometimes the footage captures pornography the users watched. And sometimes the glasses film the users’ own sex acts. “You think that if they knew about the extent of the data collection, no one would dare to use the glasses,” another contractor said. Aside from sensitive video, chat logs also reveal intimate details on users’ lives. Another worker reported hearing conversations in which one user discussed criminal activity. Another chat with the AI centered around a user’s attendance at a protest.

Sadly some of the UK right wing press and certainly Farage have started putting America’s interest over Britain’s since Trump came back to power. Like it’s some international MAGA movement like the old international communist movements in the 80s, it’s weird.

That was always clear though. I think why he’s lost so much support the past few months is that he’s openly been cheering on America and Trump over Britain, which when he claims to be the patriotic option makes his patriotism look really fake. I think this cheering on Trump in Iran when most British people don’t want us to invade and remember the scars of Iran only hurt him more

Europe without migration will be a bunch of old people because people haven’t been having babies for 50 years. So would be a population of retirees and pensioners (with the pension being by far and away the biggest benefit given out by almost all western governments and also by far and away the biggest users of healthcare) who can’t be supported by a working minority who all their wages get taxed into pension and healthcare systems for 70 year olds. And because the majority of the population are seniors, they’ll all vote to keep that system because working age people will not have enough votes to change it. Don’t know if it’s still true with defence spending increase, but certainly until a few years ago, our government spent more on its pension benefits system already than it did on defence, housing and education combined. I think what you’re missing is a lot of western culture will die out regardless because no one is having children so we’re going to end up with exponential shrinkage of the population once we reach the threshold for it. See the ghost towns and cultural traditions dying out in rural Japan for example. Be interesting to see how Japan and South Korea look in 50 years as seriously ageing populations, exceedingly low birth rates for generations and with very little migration too.

Disagree with this. I think our FPTP system designed for a 2 party system which has split to a 5 party system in England means it’s more likely that a party gets a majority and therefore 100% of the power with 22% of the votes and more likely a “protest party” gets 100% of the power power. A 5-way split actually means winning by 3% of the total votes means you’re more likely to get a majority than a 3-way split
