cisono Posted 16 September 2005 Posted 16 September 2005 Dark chocolate is generally a no no. Too bitter. It depends on the chocolate. Some are less bitter than others. Some (such as the dark chocs with almonds and honey) are not bitter at all in my opinion...

cisono Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 Why are Jaffa cakes not biscuits? It has to do with VAT.. Biscuits and cakes are considered a necessity by UK law and are zero rated. Chocolate-covered biscuits however are a luxury and subject to VAT at 17.5%. McVities and HM Customs & Excise argued over whether the Jaffa Cake was a cake (no VAT) or a chocolate biscuit (lots of VAT). The argument had to be taken to a tribunal to be resolved. In the end McVities baked a 12" Jaffa Cake which convinced the tribunal Chairman of the general cakeiness of the Jaffa Cake. Hope this clears things up... I am happy this was solved this way. Otherwise, you could not buy a packet of Jaffa Cakes for 25p at Asda!!!
cisono Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 that sounds fine, except for the almonds and honey (imo) Trust me... it tastes better than it sounds!

cisono Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 So i went in the fridge to get something sweet and i found a mini roll!!!! Do they count as cakes? I think they do and they are delicious! that never happens to me!!! Hitesh, get used to it, from next week this won't be happening any longer. If anything, stuff (esp cakes) which you know you bought (and have not yet eaten) will not be there anymore!!! The downside of being at uni...
