When has anything to do with running a car been fair?

It's frickin' expensive and on top of that, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you're depleating the world's natural resources, contributing to global warming, increasing your chances of dying before your time in an horrific, mangled pile-up, increasing your blood pressure to dangerous levels through frustration at other drivers or simply wasting your life sitting in traffic jams, you have to listen to Scott Mills, your posture suffers and you inhale noxious fumes.

Worst of all, you lose all your friends who hate you for your constant moaning.

:( The Colsterworth Esso on the A1 has sold out but the one about 300 yards from it and is cheaper isnt :S

Yeah people just follow the crowd and loose sense when there is a panic! Im going later on. Im not wasting petrol just so i can fill up again! It defeats the object!

Apparently oil refineries are NOT being blockaded but people are still panicing and bleeding the pumps dry which leads to more panic!

Some garages are restricting people to £10 worth of petrol maximum and that seems like a fair approach.

Gives everyone the chance of staying mobile and puts two fingers up to the greedy, self-centred sod-the-rest-of-you types.

I've always considered the excess fuel tax in this country to be obscene. And the lack of progress in developing alternative, clean fuels because the Government (and previous Governments) would rather bleed you dry to fund what they want.

Pretty soon, with the emergence of major new economies, the pressure on many of the world's natural resources is going to be so great that answers will have to be found. Or there will be major conflict and the natural balance of things may be restored in that way.

Why? Cos people will be using too much oil, drinking/using too much water, eating too many fish, and requiring too many other natural resources for their building programmes.

Demand will quickly start to exceed supply and that, in my opinion, is a recipe for trouble. Indeed, it is one of the reasons the Chinese have started conducting military exercises with their one-time enemy Russia.

The new economies can't afford to let America and the West have things all their own way cos they will need ever-more of the world's resources to keep their own industries going. The Times They Are A-Changin"

Sad but simply true!

It is a well-known phenomenon in economics (and sociology).

In short: people are like sheep (or worse) :D

Exactly! And now there are lots of pumps empty and people driving for miles to fill up when there was no real need - mass hysteria for nowt!

And its annoying for people like me who acuatlly need fuel. I was down to the last drops when i eventually filled up! All the Tesco stations were out and i had to go all the way across Bedford to fill up and i only just made it. My fuel gage was as low as it could go! I just wanted to fill up like normal but you get people have enough petrol still filling up!:devil::devil:
