foxes_fan Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 Hi all, just wondering if you could lend me a hand or two. Seeing as my current pc is beginning to splutter and suck at everything it does I have decided its time to get a new one, problem is I dont really know where to start. I have up to £1500 to spend and Id rather buy one pre-build although I could probably build one myself if need be. So just looking for recommendations of where to go what to buy ect ect. I want it for gaming mostly along with some coursework for college and other general tasks. I was considering waiting for SR (a company a use alot) to bring back its MAXX pcs but its been a while since they were last here and I don't know if they are still planning on re-introducing them. Thanks, any help is much appreciated.
cisono Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 Personally, I haven't bought a PC in years. I always build my own PCs... My friend bought a PC from a company in Ireland last year. It was only about 600 pounds (no monitor) and it was cutting edge at the time, with great gaming capabilities... if interested, I could find out who they were...

cisono Posted 21 September 2005 Posted 21 September 2005 I dont know who bye but my uncle had a great pc built for just £300 . Got mine for £507 And I have a friend who has a friend who bought a PC for £124 Kidding aside, those prices are not really much use for comparison unless: - money is really a consideration - you have some idea of the spec (ideally, gaming and 3D benchmarks tests would be used)
computingelite Posted 21 September 2005 Posted 21 September 2005 you'd be better off building it yourself, buy parts and stick them all together - much cheaper than buying premade boxes from big companies.

I totally agree (as I said yesterday). However, if you've never done this before, better get some assistance from a friend or be prepared to spend some time in the endeavour...
