Sainsbury's 1998 World Cup Coin Collection

Cleaning out my parents attic the other day, i found my old collection of sainburys world cup coins, complete with book, but the agony i felt when the collection promotion ended has returned to me, because i have a missing coin!

 

Did anyone collect these? and do you happen to have any spare coins i can buy from you? of all the players in the collection to have missing, i have the most famous of them all, so probably the hardest coin to get hold of as people probably don't want to part with it: David Beckham!!

 

I'd really appreciate any help in completing my collection, 18 years after i started it...

I've got the full set somewhere. Just checked on ebay its going for around £10 for the full set with the book.

Wish they still did these, got mine somewhere at my mum and dad's (no swaps though sadly). Didn't this one have Gazza in it despite him famously not making the squad?

I had a quick look on ebay too, most of the individual coins are there but i could find the Beckham one being sold separately, dont fancy having to pay for the full set when mine is in great condition and only missing 1 coin

Great little collectibles. I remember somehow ending up with about 10 Graeme Le Saux ones.

I remember these coins, how did you get them though? Was it if you spent a certain amount on shopping.

You used to get great little collectibles in the 90's, remember the little pencil toppers you used to get in cereal boxes that were premier league shirts.

Remember my dad having to buy all his petrol from Saino's even though it was dearer just to get us enough points for the coins!

 

They should also bring back the little Prostars figurines.

Great times. Football was so good back then - as it is now - but with or without blue tinted specs!
