How do I get rid of the pop up window that keeps asking me if I want to receive updates?

Really is a pain in the ar$e. Lots of forums have it now, and I've stopped visiting the ones that have the little pop-up window. Now it's on FT, FFS. So how do I get rid of it (permanently)?

Click on your profile (top right) > Account Settings > Notification Settings > Keep scrolling down and turning off the bits you don't want

OR

Go to your browser settings.  I use Chrome.  Click on the menu icon > Settings > Show Advanced Settings > Find the Privacy bit > Notifications > Manage Exceptions and block foxestalk

I think he means the one that says "This site wants to send you notifications, do you want to allow this?"

I've noticed it popping up on a whole bunch of websites when I'm using Firefox now

That's the one. I've searched on Firefox support but can't find the answer anywhere. Pain in the fundamentals.

It's optional, you can easily disallow it.

Can you explain how? I've tried, but can't find out the way to do so.
