ozleicester Posted 1 October 2016 Posted 1 October 2016 Sydney Swans V Western Buldogs. Bounce down is about 3.5 hours from now (2.30 pm AEST) The Bulldogs are one of the olde worlde sides in the AFL, last played in the GF in the 60s.... and have only won once and that was in the 50s. They are the sentimental choice for today, had a very bad year with injuries etc but managed to sneak through to the final. Sydney was the first of the "franchise" sides. Back in the 90s the league expanded from state based leagues (VFL) into the nationwide (AFL) league, Sydney was originally South Melbourne but were "sold" (See Dr Eddlestone for a good laugh) and moved to Sydney. They have since become a powerhouse in the league. There will 100,000 plus at the MCG again and will be one of the worlds great sporting events.
Jordan Posted 1 October 2016 Posted 1 October 2016 Carn the Doggies! I'll be staying up through the night to watch. I've really gotten into AFL (especially the Bulldogs) this season. Here's hoping this lives up to all the Grand Final hype (especially for those folks from Footscray that have waited forever for today).

Webbo Posted 1 October 2016 Posted 1 October 2016 Well done the Bulldogs. I was neutral for most of the season but I'm pleased for Jordon.
Jordan Posted 1 October 2016 Posted 1 October 2016 Doggies win! Amazing! I always knew they could do it--even when I didn't really know anything about this sport :p. I've fallen in love with this team and this sport, but I can't anywhere close to the congratulations deserved by their fans that have been through hell and back for decades Bevo's "rope-a-dope" tactics, as he jokingly described them during the finals, worked a charm again. The young pups ran the Swans hard for a little over 3 quarters, and when their legs started to get heavy, he sent the heavy artillery of Jake Stringer and Tom Boyd forward to pound their backs. That was also really special when Luke Beveridge gave his medal to Bob Murphy. When Murphy blew out his knee in that heartbreaking round 3 loss to Hawthorn, it seemed like it crushed the spirits in the dressing room. But Bevo, Murphy, and stand in captain Easton Wood showed tremendous leadership to keep their young team together this season (through even more injuries).
