The People's Hero Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 O'Neill wouldn't come back to Leicester probably for a number of reasons... rather.. there are a number of reasons he might not want to come back. Never say never in football.. 1) He did so well here that he will always be a hero to us, he felt he took this club as far as it could go. Why go back to a club which you feel you got the absolute best out of, risking your reputation? 2) He could probably get a much bigger job, managing a club which could attract top players and play in the top competitions. In what is a finite time which football managers have to ply their trade, it's realistic to expect managers to want to challenge themselves at the highest levels. 3) Money. He didn't ALWAYS have the club at his heart. He was great for this club but quite often he cleverly courted interest from other clubs to get more assurances or better deals here. 4) We really are not the side he left. No one he really knew is still here. Completely different board/playing staff/coaches/stadium... Much of his good work has been undone... why would he want to come back now, when he wanted to leave when conditions were much better.
